Houli and Edwards - what now.

With today's announcement that it's likely all home and away games will be played interstate - what happens with houli and Edwards?
Is it season over or will they enter the hub at some stage and quarantine for 2 weeks before evening joining the team?
I always had my doubts about fit players staying in Melbourne (and that includes the other players left behind as I think we have taken the least numbers of players into a hub of any team) and now that decision is going to cause much angst.
Every individual player/club staff will now have to self quarantine for 2 weeks before they enter the hub....no outside contact...
Houli and Edwards have a more difficult decision than they had before... and if they choose to go then they should have gone in the first place. (Houli situation more difficult due to his sick mother)
If they stay at home then I have to say I'm not happy about them receiving pay ... in my mind the fact they are still being paid is incredibly selfish given so many other club staff lost there job and they're still getting paid whilst not performing there duty.
Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Houli isn't going anywhere.
Edwards baby is due next month.
Give and take, the earliest we will see him is about round 11 or 12.
I think Hardwick needs to forget about the ones who are out and just concentrate who he has available

Yeah, I reckon you push on without them now.

Finals or bust for them. But they need a couple of weeks of football before the end of the year to be considered.

Todays news boxes these lads in. Good luck to both In the game of life, more important than chasing a ball.

Best to pretend they don’t exist if you know what I mean.

If circumstances change for them personally we welcome them back.

How that works with quarantining for them we cross that bridge when it comes.

The season is a mess, but from a personal point of view I’m happy to have the Tigers based in Qld.

For once I may get actual value out of my membership from a monetary point of view.

But given the choice of them being up here or playing in front of packed houses at the G I take the latter every time.

I reckon they deserve the pay. Both dual premiership players. What sort of message does it send to the rest of the squad if when they are going through a huge period of their family life we cut their wage.? I'll pay them if the club don't!

Could they go to Perth without the quarantine? Imagine the club will have to head there in 5 weeks or so to play Freo & West Coast, and probably the 2 SA clubs, could they meet them there? Assunimg of course they stay in QLD to play Brisbane and the Suns, after the GWS game. Then just have to fit Geelong, Essendon & Bulldogs in somewhere.
Depending of course if Edwards baby has been born, and Bachar's Mum is OK.

We might not see Houli ever wear the Richmond jumper again.

Smoking i think you may be right.

Same with Edwards.

Think these two will not play this year.. Shame. Their situations demand we respect their choice. Houli has life pressing matters to do with that i dont want to go through.

Even if things improve for both boys , they will need to be in quarantine for 2 weeks etc.

Think its time we give Eggy time to develop and make Houlis positions his. Lets have a look at the kid for an extended period and look at life with the bearded one.

Same with Scissorhands. Let Shai play midfield and have a look at him too. I think he is wasted playing in the forward pocket. He is an x factor player with pace and beauty.

Just my thoughts.

They would quarantine with there families for 2 weeks in QLD then join the hub . Why they could play the last 4 games of the season ?. . Also players will be leaving hub and coming back to Melbourne in next fortnight . Egg being one of them

Houli family comes first his mum is fighting a battle of her life club shouldn't even go there and they won't they know his family man add to that a newborn to.

With Edwards newborn is not easy in these difficult times whenever he is ready.

What I believe the situ is that no one can enter Qld from Vic due to COVID-19 border shut down so Titch & The Great Houli are stranded in Victoria until God knows when.

Why is Egg leaving the hub?

Gill said they are trying to facilitate families coming up so not sure how they plan to do that.

Some players with babies due are bringing their Mrs up to give birth in Qld. Others are waiting for the birth and then bringing the newborn up.

Shed might do that but Bachar has other issues with his mums health etc

Houli I understand. not only is he a dad again, but the mother is ill. Edwards is less understandable IMO. isn’t his wife due at the end of August? And don’t people usually work right up until a couple of weeks before the due date? He's probably being ultra cautious being a first time dad, which is understandable. But its only a 2 hour flight at the end of the day. he can always come back if there are complications. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but he's a professional footballer at the end of the day.

Seriously! At the end of the day it's a game. Yes it may be a game that usually gives a lot of people enjoyment, entertainment, and feeds their passion for tribal warfare but it is a game. Yes this game also employs many people outside of the players themselves but quite frankly there is nothing in a players contract stating they have a responsibility for the survival of the rest of the country.
Anybody able to read between the lines would clearly pick up that this pregnancy for Shane Edwards and his partner has not been without some challenges. A baby due mid to late August being spoken about early July that the birth could be imminent in the next few weeks is going to need close monitoring for both mother and child. Remember also this is their first child. The decisions made by Shane and his partner involving their unborn child have absolutely nothing to do with any of us regardless of how much we love the Tigers.
