Have we got depth to play two games a week?

17 rounds might work, I was talking more about the playing 2 games a week with in effect two interchangeable sides. I think some still under-estimate this virus. Many are going to get it - many already have it and don't know yet. As soon as an AFL player has it that team will be in lockdown at a minimum. It will no longer be equitable with teams missing games. As I said I prefer them to just play as a normal season but if (more like when) it gets compromised just forget about a premiership this year.
Agree, there's a breaking point, but even if there was 17 games, no finals, I'd still consider it a real season. We'll lose games for sure, this empty stadium idea is solid for now but like you say, as soon as players have it, the games will stop. could still even be this week.

17 games makes a lot of sense but the fact that the AFL are pushing for a condensed season means their contract with the broadcasters won't let them play less games without a significant loss of revenue

No one will have the depth. This will be thrilling. Young blokes will get games.

We can rotate +6 guys through each week.... we are looking good here folks ..

I'm not convinced by arguments that players can't / won't be able to perform with no crowds.
95% of all sport is played in front of two men and a dog. And yet players in D grade hockey on a Monday night go at it like an Olympic Gold medal is the prize.
We are talking professionals who have to have competitive spirit to match their skills and courage to play at the highest level. Most can't stand to lose a game of 500 at lunch time.
