Yes - respect - classy

Bets post match presser I've ever seen from Hardwick - actually gave me a lot of hope for our future.

What the *smile* was with our planning and preparation this week? We had 2 weeks to plan and prepare and we got our pants pulled down.

Some of the worst coaching I've seen from a Richmond side in 2 years.

Sure some of our players were cooked but you still need to take away their strengths. We pride ourselves on this. Very disappointed.

X 2

Agree. Why did we not have a tagger on their most damaging mid Sidebottom? Perhaps we didn't have one seeing as Graham had a bad shoulder, Conca not good enough, so who could have done it? He gets the big bucks for finding an answer. Combination of poor coaching, injuries, burnout and pies disposal efficiency cost us the game.

x2.

Also feel had we won, many post on here get rid of him or that person wouldn't exist.
I am hurting like hell like I was after the 72 GF. This was a premiership we had ready to take and lost an opportunity.
But hope the club with cooler heads sort out what went wrong. Make the necessary changes and blood further players.
The one thing I would not have played Astbury, period.
Dusty... 50/50 but lacked kicking penetration and burst of speed. Always caught. Maybe should have been used more as a decoy to draw away 1 to 2 good defenders

Didn’t Clarko say last week that every side is system based and typically no rabbits get pulled out of hats pre or during matches?

Not every side, Hawthorn and Richmond, because he and Hardwick both coach that way. Its what I've been trying to get at in the last couple of days (maybe not well enough). Collingwood is something of a mixture of systems and changing tactics every game which is why I'm not convinced they are the real deal. People here on PRE still do not understand what that means, it means we try and keep our structure, something like in soccer, so if Degoey goes to FF then Rance or Astbury takes him, we keep our structure intact.

Degoey and Cox getting off the leash is more of a reflection of what happened up the ground where we didn't get numbers around the ball and hold it in our forward line like we usually do.

And pressure the ball carrier in the midfield so its harder to hit those fast leads on the chest.

That may be the cast but you have to be flexible. There is no way Astbury would ever stand De Goey because of the speed difference, and Hardwick ultimately moved Rance off DeGoey as well - unfortunately the change was made too late.

Not sure how you can see the Pies aren't the real deal - right at this moment they are favourites to win a flag and are better than us.

Thats because an original thought has never gone through Buckleys head. He'll be stuffed if he doesn't have something to try and copy.

I mean in the long term. I think long term we will stay top 4.

Didn't Dimma state in the lead up to the prelim that Martin would be his "usual wrecking ball self"?
He had to have known Dusty wasn't going to produce much.

But he could hardly say that could he e.g. "Dusty's not gonna be able to produce much this week"

Hardwick “we will be hard to beat”

Not sure about that. The 6-6-6 will expose our defenders especially Astbury and Rance. Rance on one on ones and Astbury regards to his pace.

I have West Coast, Collingwood and Adelaide the teams that will trouble us.

In essence though, if that were indeed the truth then why was Martin selected at all when those inside the four walls would have known full well that he wasn't in a position to produce.

Dusty was not the only one. Aspro, Graham & Lambert were all suss & were selected.

Hardwick has a track record of selecting players that aren’t cherry ripe.

Fair call zips.

Seventeen other teams to compete against and only Wet Coke, Colonwood n the Crow baits will " trouble " us? By my understanding of being hard to beat, I'd reckon Dimma's statement would be fairly accurate.

Reckon I might put Smelbourne in the fairly difficult to beat department as well, but I'm still very optimistic of a top four season and a better finals run than last year.
