After re-watching the game I noted that whilst overall Chol had a good game there were times when he ball watched instead of helping his mates and not always eager for a contest. There were a couple of times, one late in the game when he had all the time in the world he drops the ball instead of marking and costing us a possible goal. That said overall, his ball handling and game throughout was pretty good.

Best aerially I've seen from him at AFL level.

Sure was Kev, he was clunking them early and his team mates started to look for him.

A lot had to do with him getting to the contest and taking it on. It was like he started to knit together those little glimpses we see in the one game.

I hope he goes on with it and realises what he can do when he just reads the play and makes the contest.

disagree. i think it is confidence, game smarts and fitness. when any or all of those things are missing it looks like a lack of desire and want, but it is not.
hopefully he is building all 3.

Saturday was clearly his best game since the saints on 2019, and probably his first truely good game since then. Im not sure Andrew Phillips and Nik Cox are the most intimidating ruck combo going around though so I'll resist getting too excited for at least another week. If I see him jumping over NicNat then beating him for ground balls then I might consider jumping onboard the Chol express.

Chol has had enough time to 'make it', his 1st qtr was amazing and he played a good game overall.

The issue is, he is clearly unfit, lazy, or does not have a good footy IQ. Watched the ball when he was down back on numerous occasions and didn't even attempt to have an impact at some contests he could have been involved in - but he chose not to run that extra yard.

I just don't think he has a good footy IQ and when you combine this with his apparent laziness and fitness level, he needs to go elsewhere if it comes down to keeping him or CCJ. He has had enough resources pumping the development into him now.

Glad to play him when we have limited options and I don't think his trade value has been higher. Rucks will be highly sought after this trade period.

It's been a long long HODL but that was his best game ever. First Q revelation. He's got a few weeks to strut it.

Great Chol game in that he showed more of his best than he has previously. Typical Chol game in that it came in a burst and then that was mostly that. His field kicking mistakes will improve with more game time at AFL speed. As always he is not really the full AFL quid till he understands how to keep working himself into each quarter of the game.

Potential wise his first quarter on the weekend had him almost looking like Shai Bolton's really early years. Seems just a bit special when he gets hold of it, but it was always going to take a lot more game time, strength and conditioning to turn the glimpses into more sustained impact.

Yeah I like Marbs and doubt he'd be on massive coin. It would be a brave club to offer him north of $450k in my eyes. Less than that and he will stay a Tiger.

I think he has a good, instinctive feel for the immediate contest around him.

When the contest is a few metres further away, he often shows more uncertainty about what to do.

If he lacks any footy IQ, maybe it's in the area of not anticipating how the play is unfolding, so he ends up watching rather than participating.

By participating I don't necessarily mean rushing to the contest itself, but re-positioning himself to be of greater assistance either defensively or offensively.

But he's shown that he's coachable, so there's every chance we'll continue to see him improve across the board.
