Gill’s legacy

There are no shrinking violets nor self-confidence doubts on that list, yet McLachlan's charm, power, engaging personality and mindset – which has infiltrated seemingly every workplace inside the AFL ecosystem – has meant that replacing him will be impossible.
Bloody disgraceful that the AFL head office is little more than a suite full of Noddy dogs n arse lickers. No surprise that the whole place is all about brand protection n seeming to.

AFL-X is something McLachlan should be reminded of for the rest of his days, what a legacy. What was he and his mate Shocking thinking, they probably thought they were so clever:ROFLMAO:

Pissing money down the drain.
He has been the best at spending big for no return.

Good read. Takes a fairly calculated swing at a number of issues but misses jobs for the boys, gambling and rule changes.

Interesting item of note that I was unaware of was his address to the IPA recently which exposed his conservative leanings and also his disdain for truth telling.

Just *smile* off already.
The way I read the article it was Lachlan Murdoch who addressed the IPA to moan about the ABC, but the article is implying that McLachlan is certainly aligned with Murdoch.

Gills legacy is the Clown Show that the AFL has now become.
Couldn't agree more Craigy.

I have never understood the love this guy gets in the media and by many fans, just boggles my mind.

The guy is a total A grade bullsh1t artist who has been killing the game as we have known it for 100 years, to something that vaguely resembles Aussie Rules anymore. The rule changes, the lack of interest in Fan concerns, seating at games, prices of concessions, etc etc etc etc ..... the list goes on forever.

Get the bastard out already and let's start hopefully healing and fixing the many many problems that now exist thanks to Dill and the likes of SHocking and the rest of his cronies.

That and his embarrassing cover-up of Meatloaf "slaying it".............. that was the end of his credibility no doubt.

Obviously struck a chord with Dangerclench. He wants players to rock up to games in fancy dress as per AFLXstacy, just to enhance the fan pre game experience of course.
FMD someone just hurry up n shoot Gilligan n the Clench ( figuratively speaking of course ) n simply let us get back to footy as it should be.

Reported in the Guardian today.

Gill said
"We understand community concern about the current volume of betting ads, particularly around those that offer inducements.

We believe this needs to be balanced with a concern that over-regulation will have on the integrity of AFL matches and the wider sporting environment."

Gambling ads = integrity?

Because he doesn't want the death of football in Tasmania to be his legacy.

He will finish up not long after the federal budget is announced (with him hoping Albo co-funds the new stadium, thus the Tasmanian team being approved).

He will give a wave, a cheers and in his mind be the saviour of football in the state. Whateley and co will gush about his ability to get deals done. "What a leader".

This is despite him, and the AFL under his watch, being the number 1 reason it died in the first place.

Gill and the other fat cat executives have well truely got their snouts, and both feet back in the trough, post pandemic. Their salaries rose to $11.8 million in 2022, an average of $1.3 million each, compared to $10.4 million in 2019, pre pandemic.

Meanwhile they continue to shaft the clubs with the soft-cap, it is still well down from what it was pre pandemic.

Shame on you McLachlan what a disgraceful legacy.

Could be that.

Might be what's happening legally at Hawthorn too. Or the Collective bargaining agreement hold up or a plethora of other things.
Either way surely any succession plan could see others overlook these issues.
Just hurry up & leave already Gil.
