General Trade Discussion 2022

Clark won't go top 5, thats likely to be:

Ashcroft, Cadman, Sheezel, Wardlaw and Tsatas.

Who is your next 3? Clark surely must be in that group?
Tsatas not in mine. the rest agreed, although I also am hesitant on Ashcroft but will be a player, not in order, McKenzie, Humphrey, Hewitt, Jefferson, Philipou before Tsatas or Clark. I reckon if I sat down and thought more on it, maybe Konstanty and Ginbey too.

Reckon the AFL will be taking a really dim view of what is happening in the competition with trades.

You've got all the clubs who have won the recent premierships dominating the week, then the teams who have been top four contenders doing ok, and everyone else getting nowhere.

Putting aside club allegiances, this hasn't been a good week for the competition.

How much is Mitchell on and how much are they paying of it ?
Think the Hawks just want him out and were willing to pay all his salary for 2023.

Mitchell, Sam variety is putting his stamp on this team.

‘His team’

Not many left of Clarkson’s three peat Hawks. Goes to show Mitchell stabbed his former coach in the back for his ‘‘return to the Hawks’ aim to coach!

Rumour is that they want an inside mid along with Sheezel and Wardlaw is the best one this year albeit soft tissue injuries at 18 are a massive concern
Was talking to some footy people at Xavier 5 weeks ago and none of them rated Wardlaw.

Did Hartley say anything about Aarts? If we ditch RCD and/or Stack and keep Aarts, we are wasting our time
Obviously means the club rates Aartsy Fartsy higher than R2D2 n Stacky. That falls purely back on the shoulders of R2D2 n Stacky, the opportunities have been laid out in front of them.

And the AFL babies, who they oversee, Suns and GWS stinking it up. (The latter doing as well as it can for a club nobody cares about, the former a basket case).

I can't watch drafts anymore.
I would love Draft nights.
The 2018 Draft was the last draft I've watched.
And I'm lucky I missed out watching the Dow & Collier dawkins drafts just after watching the Higgins draft
Drafts are sooooo over rated these days it's bullshitt.
It's the kid. If the kid I'd like Horne-Francis your fuked regardless if he is pick 1 or pick 20. But then at pick 53 you pluck Graham and At the Rookie Draft you pluck Lambert & Grimes.
I don't care we don't keep our 1st rounders anymore.
Because we can use them on kids that fit our needs and use 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounders on kids.

No one puts aside club allegiances though, case in point S.Hocking. Dog eat dog.

I spoke to his Dad 12 months ago and the family weren't happy with the way Cooper had been treated. I'm not surprised he has left.

To be honest you'll probably find the same thing at every club with young players not given a go for whatever reason. I'm sure if you spoke to Will Martyn, Jake Aarts or RCDs parents they'd probably say the same thing.

Clubs can't please everybody. When you have over 40 players on a list someone's going to feel aggrieved at their son not getting a go, whether it's justified or not.

Fair. If the goal is complete socialism where ever club wins one flag every 18 and soon to be 19 years then it’s a fail. That ain’t going to happen.

Fair take. The problem is that it’s the AFL’s very own system that has created this mess. They would need to tread very carefully before making any changes, otherwise they are likely to just make things worse. Of course that won’t happen.

Richmond

Draft picks: 53, 63

List changes: Matt Parker (delisted); Josh Caddy, Shane Edwards, Kane Lambert (all retired)

Traded in: Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper

Traded out: Nil

Verdict: The Tigers traded out nearly all their draft picks, but secured Giant duo Taranto and Hopper in a massive boost to their midfield. They also managed to complete the deals without trading out Ivan Soldo, who they desperately wanted to keep. Rating: 9/10.

One left in fact. Breust. Apart from Worpel, their entire leadership team has left (traded or retired).
