Gameday - Tigers V Swans

The midfield stood up when it really counted. Both Taranto and Hopper were solid, the latter will get better as he gets more continuity. Imagine where we'd be without them.

Flogging ourselves stupid over our draft picks and 2 spots lower on the ladder

Commentators weren't the only ones, I had it tagged elimination as soon as we got smashed by Brisbane, lose last night and we were done, (actually all games henceforth are probably elimination finals unless we win every game leading up to Port game as we still need to win 6 from remaining 7 to get in).

I agree - it was a risky game for us, both on deaths door and basically curtains for the loser.

I reckon with our draw against the blues, 12 wins may be enough, 13 guarantees it. So I reckon we could drop 2 from here on and still have a pretty high chance of making it. That means winning 2 of the dees, sainters and doggies - that will be tough (and I am assuming we don’t beat port but we match up well against them and like the Adelaide oval).

Certainly whoever lost last night it was curtains.

12 wins and a draw "may" still make us finals if other results can go our way/
13 wins and a draw will amost certainly get us finals, possibly even a home final its going to be that tight at the end of the year.

So the equation is simple, we have wo beat West Coast, Hawks and North.
Win 2/3 of Melbourne, Dogs, Saints and Port.

The Port game could be an interesting one, I did a ladder predictor earlier and I think they will be guaranteed a top 2 spot going into Round 24, so if players have niggles do they give them a rest, do they potentially ease off a few % as they don't want to be injured. It could end perfect storm for us, we have a pretty good record at AO against Port so if they were off a few % and we were on, we could beat them over there.

Apart from a few minor tweaks it's virtually impossible to overhaul a game plan mid season. The game is all about systems and structures these days and they play that way game after game, win lose or draw.
Pre season is where they do all the tactics n testing to overhaul the system and even then the footy's often as clunky as buggery for a few weeks until the players get instinctively used to the new set ups.
You’re right. Yeah I went a bit early was looking ordinary at the time..!

You might be butthurt about it, but I think most are content with the trades and have moved on from speculating what draft pick we may have ended up with.

Apart from the win,it was pleasing to have more centre clearances than the opposing side for a change. Also kept the Swans down to 47 inside 50's which was vastly better than our last 3 games against them where they had 60 plus. Now my hope is that Soldo takes his opportunity and excels with the rucking and actually hits an intended target.

Why on earth do TV reporters persist with getting Dustin Martin on post-match interviews? He clearly hates doing it, doesn't want to do it, and so his answers are bland and add nothing to the coverage whatsoever. It's tedious to watch. Give it up.
Rather hearcfrom a range of players over the season. Yes

and they had 17 inside 50's in the 1st quarter shows our improvement after that. Just 30 inside 50's conceded in 4 quarters. Now thats outstanding. We had 48 in those 3 quarters.

Are you serious? I'm not wasting an annual leave day on a game of footy (finals excluded).
Lemme see now.
There's annual leave days n I've got some saved up.
There's RDO's n I've got some saved up.
There's personal leave days, sickies n I've got some saved up.
Seeing as I'm already matured enough to be a decrepit old pensioner any time I want, why the hell shouldn't I take a leave day n give myself a long weekend once in a while??? Especially when I can use it to enable me to properly enjoy a stupid Thurs night game without having to get up early for work the next morning. Always thought leave days were for exactly that, taking leave and enjoying a break for whatever purposes suit your needs.

It seemed to me that the Swannies had run their race and were not as quick as in the first 2 quarters.
That is why I said we were not out of it in a previous post.
They had, to my eyes, slowed up considerably.
You sure it wasn't that whisky slowing down your eyeballs gray1???

Will anyone remember we kicked two goals in the last minute of the fourth quarter when complaining how we ‘always’ give up goals in the last minute?

I doubt it so I’ll just keep banging on about confirmation bias.

Just watched the replay of second half. Geez we were lucky / did well when Sydney were pressing late. Could have easily been all over despite our 2nd half dominance. About time it turned for us in this regards.

When Nanks target was on the ground with trainers attending him and the ball went near him the umpires didn't stop the game. I thought that was a ruling they brought in after the disgrace of Prestia?
(We goaled partly due to the out number)

Sometimes they stop play . . . and sometimes they don't.

It is a complete mess but I expect that from the AFL and their adjudication. Game clearly should have been stopped, the Sydney player was in trouble.
