Spot onLynch sometimes manages it but IMO only when he is sick of not getting his hands on it, so he starts searching further up the ground. But if Soldo isn't playing, and/or Nank isn't the target, this is just a terrible strategy.

Yeah we love Kingy.I agree with what David King said this morning. We left the last 30 seconds to the kids (Mansell & Hugo) with no experienced/leaders doing anything. Culture at this club has definitely dropped and needs to be revived again by getting rid of some oldies.
I had flashbacks.Let's not get carried away we played like a bottom 4 Side and lost in the exact same way we lost to Collingwood in round 2 2016. We haven't learnt shiit
Thats true but we have seen the same movie on repeat. I just have zero confidence in the team if a game goes down to the wire.I'm convinced it hurts a lot more because it's Essendon.
Was infuriating that we had NO leadership in that last 30 seconds..we had two players in the goal square and no one blocking space between stringer and the goalsquare...I agree with what David King said this morning. Exactly..unforgivable leadership...that essendon foward line was wide open ..surely someone should of instructed players to get back ??This.
But the biggest question I still have, is how a team which has pretty much lost EVERY close game in the last 2 years, not have a game plan in the dying 5 minutes of a game?
Forget about all the talk in this thread about who played badly or why we shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. These situations are always going to come about. In fact, 12 of them to be exact since the start of 2022. That's almost half of our games. There is NO team which should lose in that position ever. 18 points up with only minutes to go and we couldn't get it done.
1) Why didn't we try at every opportunity to try and ice the clock with minutes to go and 3 goals up?
2) Why weren't we flooding their inside 50 in the last Essendon forward entry, when everyone knew it was their last roll of the dice? Where were the leaders shouting instructions to do so? This is where having 2 captains should be an advantedge, instead we have 2 C's and zero leaders.
3) How is it possible there could be so much space in their inside 50 on that last play, and no one within 15 minutes of their most dangerous player?
4) Haven't we practised for this exact situation? Knowing that we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot week after week, we just never learn.
Watching that last quarter again shows we just holiday at training. Do we practice positioning????
Even here, Rioli kicking in, why can't one player start running off to the left with a run and gun down the corridor instead
of kicking to where all Bummers are flooding?

Yes unless you have an elite kicker bringing it out. The Skunks have several including a 20 year old kid who can do it continually; hits targets all game and seldom turns it over. Merret rarely fails to find and hit a target with a variety of kicks. He killed us at Dreamtime.Because it's high risk.. turn it over there and it's oppo goal time.
That gets me too. Why is it so rare for a bloke to lead out of all that congestion into the centre square?
