There may be the interest on here to have a Thread on its own.

Its an epic show with a huge following.

What was everyones reaction to the Red Wedding.

It has to go down as one of the greatest TV moments (the red wedding scene itself), I don't mean acting wise, but the sheer shock of it all.

There is a lot more to come from this great series.

I just wish GRRM would pull his finger out and finish the books.

You seen his photo? I'm praying that he doesn't drop off before finishing the series. Needs to focus on writing rather than dining on pigeon pie and mead, and feeding the cult of personality by attending fantasy writer conventions.

I am praying he doesn't do a Robert Jordan and pass away before finishing the books, although he has filled in the TV show, writers in on his thoughts for the upcoming books, just in case the worst happens, so they can finish the show.

I just pray he finishes though, because the "Wheel of Time" series of Robert Jordans finished terribly, like they were rushed, when his wife and another author finished the series for him.

Probably do a Robert Jordan. I started reading the series 16 or 17 years ago. Bloody long wait.

I have read the books so knew what was coming but still shocking and hard to watch.

As I said, he needs to lay off the fantasy writer conventions, stay away from the groupies and lock himself in a room until he finishes the series.

All a bit much really. ATM I am awaiting:

1. GRRM to finish Song of Ice and Fire series;
2. Rothfuss to finish the Name of the Wind series; and
3. Donaldson to finish the third Covenant series (yawn ... but having read them since the early 1980's, I feel obliged to finish).

New fan, red wedding shocked me, only read books one and two. Tyrion rocks, and I can't wait the to see what happens to Theon

PJ ... shouldn't surprise you but plenty more shocks to come.

Arya, my favourite. Very interested to see what becomes of her. Could be the Ninja in the pack!

Arya I think will meet up with the Bravossi assassin again, she still has the coin right?

What ever happened to her sword needle, does she ever get it back?

Come now ... no spoilers ;)

Agree. For those who want to know more, you really need to read the books.

They are amazing and plenty more surprises in store.

I met George a few years ago at Worldcon when it was in Melbourne. He's really fun to talk to. He actually asked about the football, he was tickled that we call Fremantle the Purple Haze. He's a big NFL fan (follows both the Giants and the Jets, still not sure about that two teams thing), he went to North Western University and their football team wears purple. He would have been there in the '60's and they wanted to call the team the Purple Haze, but apparently it didn't sit too well with the faculty. When it comes to his own writing he has two passions, one is a shared world anthology he and some friends (one was Roger Zelazny) began years ago, that's called Wild Cards. The other is A Song of Ice and Fire. While he's as passionate as he ever was about the series I think he's written himself into a corner he doesn't know how to write himself out of. He doesn't announce all his progress on his Not a Blog (http://grrmlivejournal.com), but by his most recent estimate there he's done about 100 - 200 pages on The Winds of Winter since A Dance with Dragons was published in 2011. I personally doubt he'll finish the series and our best bet of seeing a conclusion is via the HBO show, although I think they'll have fun selling certain story developments to an audience as the show goes on.

To add to what CTT said, every now and then GRRM publishes a new chapter from the next book on his website.

Prior to Christmas he had a chapter on Theon. He now has this ...

Would prefer to wait for the whole thing to be released ... but he is such a slow writer.

Plenty of theories, dissections, etc
Warning! if you haven't read the books most topics have spoiler alerts, but be aware.
After spending some time on that site I realised how much I'd missed in the books. Some I got, but still did a few rereads. Interesting.

Above is a link to a GoT recap, by a pretty funny AGE reporter. Her recaps are quite good and the comments worth a read.

This is the last episodes recap, you can find all season 3 recaps through this though.
