Game Day - Tiges V Swans

That's what I noticed in the reserves last week. I think as we develop this will become more prominent. I think the AFL match centre commentary said we were uo 40 on uncontested possessions from last week. Players like Brown Campbell Sonsie and Yze believes Banks will improve our ability to play this game.

I didn't see the game but congrats to Maurice. I did see his last play where he turned a three on zero 15 metres out into a point (sans siren) so still needs to work on his offence. Yze was quite glowing but also realistic in that they have to coach Maurice to take a breath when he gets the ball. Looks like he has a good handle and also backs himself in. He said not only his tackles but his work in defensive structures is spot on, they actually show his stuff to others.

Maurice had just run 200 metres three times in a row, on that last play, after having run at a full sprint for most of the quarter.

Plus, Bolton's kick to him was genuine trash. (He was also gassed).

Won't be there in 2025.
I think we really just want Marlion to get to the 100 games for the F/S possibilities. But 18 games to go is looking a long way down the road. I was unimpressed with his game today again - he looked cooked in Q4 and not that interested. Was thinking he should have been subbed after that lazy kick on the far wing that gave the Swans opponent, trailing by about 10m, an equal chance in the contest again. Just crucial errors.

Just like KMac - the mistakes and turnovers just drive you spare and cost us goals ... often. Defensively and offensively.

Was unable to attend or watch live and only finished watching the replay now, (after deliberately avoiding the result).

So many incredible moments.

Their intensity and desire to win accounted for many of the teams deficiencies and lack of perceived talent.

The sting of dropped marks, wrong options and skill errors dissipated quickly through the immense pressure that the Tiges piled on continually that eventually transferred into perceived pressure and plenty of opposition mistakes.

I haven’t seen that kind of Tiger pressure for some time.

Ooze has stated previously and again in his presser that he wants the Tiges to be hard to play against, and they were, and it was brilliant to see.

Yes, did little effectively. Disappointing game and some of the usual brain fades per usual. Luckily TL stepped up and found some form today against a top opponent.
Thought Balta looked under the weather from the first bounce. Think I posted that in the 2nd qtr. Noticeably struggling when the siren went. Believe he may not have trained during the week either so likely he is carrying something.

Managed to get his hands to the ball to spoil on the goal line with about 30 seconds left though.

props to Horse Longmuir in his press conference at the first question.
Asked about his team and immediately mentioned us and how good we were.

Na, that was a bad kick by Shai. MRJ was gassed and it didn't matter but the kick was the reason we didn't score.

Watching the third quarter and he is dynamic and really propelling us foward

Crazy. It was his best game for ages. He didn't make many mistakes at all. He tackled well, always provided an option, had sticky hands for some difficult takes. He was critical to the win.

Today's win felt different. Today's win felt fresh.

As good a victory as we've had for a while. Just a great day all round really & one to cherish.

Yes every fan feels the same but we have the historical facts to prove it. I think it's 2014 since we've had a positive season free kick count. But yeah we were last for frees and still won the premierships in 2017 and 2020 so a good team will overcome it.
Nothing justifies a team not having their players' actions on the field not adjudicated the same as every other team. Just as the rules must be the same for every team, every game.
But that is not what we see for us, and some other teams also, while again, some clubs seem to get a very favorable run quite consistently. [See Colonwood 2023; RFC not given equal treatment for over 5 years now at least].

How good would have been with equal adjudication like the favoured teams? How many more wins (esp. close games); how much percentage have we been robbed of; player achievement and recognition etc. etc. ?

Watching the replay, closely.
Didn't think Balta was injured at all.
His role was to knock the ball down to ground, create crumbs.
Sometimes he took on and spoiled 3 opponents in the marking contest.
(Created the crumb for the Sonsie handpass to Mansell, kick to Lynch, in the 3Q.)
Must say what an absolute freak Bolton is.
Worth every cent, and more.

Nah Leon. Marlion was Marlion, the same one we have had for 82 games.
He is laconic and looks uninterested at times but he isn’t, that’s the way he plays.
We have to take the bad with the good but he was very important on the wing.
Did a 2019 blind turn today as well, a thing of beauty
