Game Day - Tiges v Deez Round 20, 2023

Would feel much better if we had cumberland in as we do not have a single genuine foward who kicks multiple goals aparr from an out of sorts jack.
Our mids and fowards cant ppay that slow ,non chasing ,plod crap today .
Bolton dusty cotch prestia are goin to have to run a lot harder than last weeks non efforts

For the first time all year on I'm wavering on whether I go to a home game.

May and Lever are going to take a world record number of intercept marks, and we will be lucky to kick more than a goal a quarter.

But I get to see Jack, Cotchy and Dusty on the G for another game.

Alright, I'll go.

Get to the game they love the tiger army in full voice.

We gotta lower the eyes and hit up targets. Up the other end, we have the No 1 intercept player in the league, Balta, and Vlustuin to is right up here.

Dee's forward line is nothing special. Our midfield supersedes theirs with Oliver out. Dees ball use will be better but its damn windy so i hope that helps us.
Our pressure if we bring it we will win.

Up against it.

Our block of 3 starts now, two games with a 5 day break - all 3 games are almost the old 8 point game for all the teams and any loss will feel like season over.

We could win all 3 or lose all 3 - for me worst case is we win 1 out of 3 but I am hoping optimistically for 2 out of 3.

I am looking pretty hard (@seven) but I think this one is beyond us. Melbourne have the 2nd best defence in the league (behind the saints which gives me heart) so how we manage their run out of defence will be critical.

For both teams, their weaknesses are their scoring power, unfortunately ours is weaker than theirs so I am expecting a defensive scrap which is the only way I think we can win. Could be a little wet and blustery at times.

Strap yourself in for a frustrating game but I think they are more settled across the ground.

Better off kicking it to open space for our small forwards to run into it than lobbing it to Jacks head and May Lever marking at will
Haven’t seen it done by any team yet, but either kick to grass or grubber it inside 50 against teams which intercept mark like Melbourne. Especially as we only have one genuine albeit aged key forward today.

Melbourne will pump us. 80 points.
Reality check about to hit.
Not sure about that huge win by the Dees, but if we manage to get up that will be one for the books.
Still do not know who can kick enough goals for us to win.
Last week it was mainly left to our mids to get the job done.
Melb. are too smart for that to happen.

Need massive improvement and a good start won't be coming back against quality team.

Anyone wondering how far behind we are, the Saints are easily accounting for the Hawks. This time last week we were a few goals down.

We should put Young on their best/tallest forward and Balta can shadow Gawn from the wing back to the defensive 50.

I haven't watched enough of Melbourne to see exactly how they rebound from defence, but, given their strength in intercept marking you would have to think it is from marks, at least a fair proportion of the time. Our forward entries either need to be to a free player (hard against Melbourne) or to ground. If they are coming out of defence it must be hurried and under pressure.

Don't hold out much hope today. Have had a torrid morning with dizziness but I will be there, going to leave shortly and meet my daughter and her partner.

Go Tiges.

We can win *if* we turn up and play with pressure from the opening bounce, not beginning in the final quarter.

Agree with all of that, especially forward entries. A few other things to look for from me today:

- Who matches up on Pickett & how quickly we can transition responsibility when he starts at the centre bounce.
- Can Miller consistently compete with either May or Lever when forward. Make or break game for him today.
- Can McIntosh & Ross match Langdon & Hunter on the wings.
- Can we provide enough extreme pressure all game to disrupt Melbourne’s run & kicking skills, especially through the middle.
- Can Soldo negate Gawn.
- Who takes Petracca when he goes forward.

We have enough good players to win but lots of caveats - especially how well we attack.

Unsure what to make of Melbourne
Held on for 4pts against crows at home
1pt over Brisbane at home
21 pts over saints
Lost to GWS by 2pts

Lets hope our mids and fowards run hard and pressure hard.
There is little more frustrating than watching sides spread and run the ball with ease why we lightly jog far beyind.

OK Tiges, it's been "Upset Rd" so far, let's not miss the party.

On it early, must win more of the ball from the Centre, NO Oliver to worry about so let's take advantage of that.

Move the ball with some speed and play some defensive football when it's called for (Presitia, Hopper and Taranto esp.)

We need to see the BEST of Shai, Bakes and Jack Ross, another one just like last week we do us just fine.

We can do this if the desire is there, Eat 'em Alive Tiges......
