GAME DAY - Tigers v Crows

We comfortably beat Geelong and West Coast in the last 4 games. Why would Port prefer to play us?
Adelaide Oval in front of their home crowd. They did it a few weeks ago so obviously think they can do it again. Despite our average record at that ground they might be mistaken.

I respect most posters on here whether I disagree with them or not. I don't care if people are one-eyed, it's a Richmond forum, I expect no less. I'll still call it how I see it.

To be honest I find the umpiring debate tedious - most of it is explained by our pressure game. We are a high tackling, high pressure team and we are happy to give away free kicks as it gives us a chance to win the spilled ball or slow the oppo game down which again gives us a better chance to turn the ball over. I've said this many times.

As for losing the free kick count when playing away interstate, that's a statistical fact. It happens. Is it conscious or subconscious umpire bias? I don't care, as long as we win the game, or if we lose we make the four and win the flag.

Do you reckon Dimma and coaches lose much sleep over losing the free kick count in a 44 point win? Do you reckon the players do? I don't.
But it still gets me upset when it’s an obvious free though ant.

What you wrote is things many of us were saying in 17, but you can see at times our players are dumbfounded.

I'll back up anyone on here who at least provides evidence and isn't afraid to have a different opinion, whether I agree with their opinion or not.
What evidence? It's just his interpretation in an attempt to make himself seem superior to every other poster. Anyone who can't see that Hawkins pushed Balta in the back and into Soldo is either blind or taking the *smile*.

As I said before the game, the AFL did us a big favour the back half of the season. Our last four/five games we had longer breaks than all our opponents, and didn't travel until this game. Easy victory for us despite the naysayers, and gave us a good look at Adelaide Oval again in case we cop Port in our first final.

Sorry Leon, but I'm on Ross Lyon's side. We'll go anywhere and play anyone and won't whinge and sook about it.

I would like to nominate you to write a letter on all our behalf expressing our undying and limitless gratitude to that most honourable and admirable of all sporting institutions, our beloved AFL, led by dear Gill and sweet Stevie, for providing us with the absolute privilege of being the only team in the 8 that had to travel to Sadelaide and play the Crows for their 10th HG today. Please remind them of how spoiled we have been playing HGs just continuously at the MCG over recent years and at the QLD G in '20, as our dear friend Kane Kornes has pointed out constantly, and indeed getting an indulgent 2 at the MCG this year. (But that's if you don't make the same basic arithmetical mistake that Kane and TBR make in including the HGs of fellow MCG tenants as ours' instead. BTW, Geesook 3 HGs but Pies 4 at MCG)

We especially thank them for such an easy match today (according to the astute Ant) with just 2 apparent injuries. It took so little effort. While at the same time, most thoughtfully experiencing the simultaneous pleasure of getting further opportunity to play again at the AO so much. We treasure playing at that delightful ground in front of the dear Crows fans who always manifest such affection for us along with their incredibly objective support, always cheering for the best side to win in a scrupulously umpired, fair contest. Jolly good. But what about the sheer kindness of allowing us extra preparation for what we love most of all - another encounter with those simply charmingly feral Poort fans who even leave the Crows for dead in their hospitality and deep affection for our fortunate visits.

Just so wonderful, AFL. But. Ant, don't forget to acknowledge the superb AFL coding system for umpiring decisions. We are so grateful that Tom Hawkins was not persecuted by totally frivolous PITB penalties even despite a shocking, year-long injury that occurred capriciously to Ivan Soldo. It was clearly Ivan's own clumsy negligence that was responsible. Next match, if we are so lucky as to play those sweet Cats again, we will make sure our players proffer their backs to that lovable hunk, Hawkie, so he can push all he likes. Without complaint. Clearly it amuses the AFL media no end.

Ever so thankful ... etc. etc. (Don't forget to include a huge thanks for the much heavier penalties received by Stack and CCJ compared to the totally unjust and prohibitive sanctions for Colonwood. We deserve them and are eternally grateful to have 2 less players available for finals selection)

Yours, love Antman .

yeah I don't buy into character assassinations either Rids. I don't see TBR that way at all.
That's not a character assassination. TBR himself admitted that he has a superiority complex. I pulled him up on it a while ago and he was magnanimous enough to admit it.

Anyway, what you claim is evidence is just his opinion. The push by Hawkins on Balta the case in point.

Here's a fact about me - I scream and yell at the TV at some of these non-decisions too

Players are always dumbfounded when frees go against them or they don't get em. Sometimes with good cause. That's OK. Umps get it wrong sometimes.

I just don't buy the conspiracy theories.

Missed that missive, at least he knows his own limitations then. I'm still a TBR fan.

Granted it was a while ago. I don't have an issue with what he posts; but if I think it's *smile* I will say so.

What character assassination? I just disagree with his premise and his methods. Stop getting on your high horse when challenged.

we seem to have ramped up the tricks.

are we being too cute? or are we turning up the chaos to 11?
Went too often for the second or third handball when a kick was available.
Jack is looking for a contact in Serie A with all his back heels .
