The AFLW is going to be a slow burn. Only when the 10/11/12 year olds that have now taken up playing reach the top level, will we see a dramatic improvement. Remember most of the players playing at the top level today have only been playing a couple of years, if at all. AFL draftees have been sleeping with footies since they were knee high to a grasshopper. The enthusiasm of the girls at grassroots level is what's going to keep the sport going.
