Ain't that the truth.I'm not buying the not pissed angle either. If you are in a nightclub late at night and aren't pissed you last about 10 seconds before you want to get out of there.

Exactly how much had they had to drink? That would seem more likely given Bolton never falls over ever.

Different teams approach it in their own way but generally you need to not be injured and not be on a short break, ie have time to do a recovery and still have 6 or 7 days before a game.
I'm sure there would be nothing stopping the boys having a drink last weekend with a game the following Saturday night, in fact it would have been identified as an opportunity in the preseason given the Friday night game and the long break. You try and do that to keep motivation up, righto boys, we've got a 4 week block where we need discipline and hard work and then we'll let our hair down and start again on Monday for the next block sort of stuff.
Definitely not his finest interview. In his endeavour to emphasize how the much the club does not condone violence, it felt like Gale threw the boys under the bus a bit and created more murkiness and more room for speculation which was very much picked up upon by SEN's breakfast show hosts (as they should have done). I thought Hardwick handled the situation very well last night on AFL360 and I have to admit I was unusually disappointed with the interview with Brendon Gale this morning.
The alternative argument is that women can stand up for themselves and don't always appreciate their partners being violent to protect them from the violence of other men.I havnt seen or heard any media surrounding the incident,
but I'd hope they'de be honest,
and say 'hands up who wouldn't physically challenge a person who gropes their partner and calls them names'?
(deliberately non-gendered)
and 'hands up who wouldnt expect their friend to assist them in any ensuing altercation?'
its perfectly understandable behaviour, especially involving young men.
Ive always thought the suggestion that violence has no place ever,
is really naive and glib
Great insightYou'd never really recommend anyone writes themselves off but it is really each to their own. Very rarely would guys be drinking at club events so you're not really aware of what each individual is doing anyway. I like Chris Judd's mantra, which was one game, one free pass. So if you played 20 games in a year you had 20 nights you could relax a bit, have a pizza or get on the drink.
Sounds good in theory but 20 doesn't go far when you start adding up special days and other life events that pop up during a year.
Without doubt though the footy club's focus on drinking is 10% performance and 90% behavioural though. They spend a heap more time talking about making good decisions about when and where you drink than they ever do about the physiological impacts.

i know the umpires don’t want us to have any succesI was thinking the same
Its as if they just don't want us to have success.
I think that Benny would have said they were not violent if indeed they werent.I have to say that I found Benny Gale's interview a disappointment. He kept saying he does not condone violence, well, there is no evidence that Dan or Shai were violent. From what I can gather Dan told a guy to stop harassing his GF and got thumped for speaking up. No idea what Shai did.
But there is no evidence that either Dan or Shai were violent, I think Benny should have been more forthright in defence of the players.

Why is the afl getting involved now ?.We handled it perfectly they a clowns.
