What are you advocating? They can't just cut losses, they have to wear those losses and gradually pay them back, over several decades instead of leveraging their success to continue growing and competing against the MANY other forms of entertainment available to us.
To minimise the damage they need TV money, you're absolutely right there. The economics of this are brutal and I feel like this is lost when I read comments like "Time for AFL to toughen up, cut your losses, cancel the season & start afresh 2021." It's not about toughness, this isn't a moral argument. It's a business and therefore an economic argument. So yes, there will be compromises to get as much TV content as possible - no season is not an option. I'm confident that most supporters understand the reality and will stick with it regardless of how distasteful some of the changes might be this year. I reckon you will too when the ball bounces for round 2.
