Footy to Return

Funny that players with families but more to the point those who have wealth a most against it,do u think marlion would be against it,hell no ,he needs money ,
Can see those who a saying cancel the season have not run a business and have no business sence what's so ever, none, for starters the club revenues on their own are over a billion dollars, the 600, million without playing at all would need another 600million loan minimum,
Sponsorship, ground signage,TV rights, all need to be held by a season or u won't believe the damage to come yet.

Shortened games, no crowd, played at who knows which venues, games played with less time between rounds, contrived fixture to fit the hubs, shared training base, shared doctors and staff, players staying in hotels for weeks, access to training facilities for limited times as they are shared, extended benches (if you have enough uninfected players left) etc etc etc.

Yeah, normal season.

Add to that the risk of infection, the risk of some players being quarantined, the threat of the AFL, or a club, being sued if there is a problem.

This doesn't look very feasible when you look at everything.

Not necessarily - in can largely depend on who a team plays at home
For example - we could get 8 home games against the worst eight sides and 9 away against the rest which means our closest rivals
Another team - say Collingwood - might get 9 home games including all the games against tough teams and only 8 away and they’re all the weak teams they’d beat anywhere
Extreme scenarios sure - but it could still be a contrived fixture
We will always find a reason to whinge or reason to point a finger at other whingers.

He has 3 young tackers at home.
His insta is full of him playing with his kids.
He doesn't want to spend 8 weeks away from them.
I hope players revolt against this bullshiitt
If Citch doesn't want to play then he can stand himself down.
But he cannot dictate to others who want to play.

If players undermine this season watch out for how they will use this power in future seasons.... As has happened in US sports be prepared for player strikes and seasons shortened and cancelled.

Call the season off
Absolute garbage trying to get the season up and going
The money they are borrowing will be used on the Hubs . Who is running this circus ?

Not an antagonistic question Stig ....

Where is your extreme anti-season resumption coming from?

it seems a bit of a campaign?

Im probably the opposite, I'm extreme play some footy, so it fair I share my positionality;

I reckon these blokes 1. want to play footy and 2. get paid heaps to play footy, and

3. I love watching footy and 4. Richmond will probably win whatever kind of flag it is, and they will count in history, just as much as collingwoods 'challenge' premierships.

So I want footy.

I dont care if Jack, Cotchy and Bachar and Marlion stay home to play with the kids (I care if they draw a pay cheque)

take RCD, Notorius, Dow Jones and Eggs.

If Citch doesn't want to play then he can stand himself down.

I'd be up for bringing Chris Corrigan in as special project manager.

I spoke briefly with a club doc and he won't be giving up his private practice to go into a hub. He said other docs are in the same boat and also that players aren't happy.
Could not care whether that doc goes in or not... And he clearly is making a financial, decision. And despite the COVId not every doc in Vic is engaged treating the 149 cases.

anyone here ever had a job that takes them away from home for more than one night?

I once did 18 months at sea.

But the 2nd mate was the most beautiful woman in the world and was totally up for sharing my bunk,

you should a seen her work a snorkel and some fins.

she was like a Disney mermaid

I would have stayed out there forever

The other thing that Im not sure has been said, is

some blokes would give anything to get away from the misses and tin lids for a couple of months.

family life is not like on instagram.

Sure. But even on a 3mth secondment I go go home every month and if there was an emergency I could take the next flight out without needing to sit through a 2 week quarantine before I got to my family.

2 Weeks of quarantine on the way back to family is a major issue IMHO. It renders players useless in the event of an emergency,

wouldnt they just fly straight home and the whole family do 14 days quarantine?

I feel like theres a tendency to overthink this.

NSW says 3 people from 3 households can legally get together from Friday (the headline, I believe went 'threesomes legal on Friday')

so,

Depends if the emergency is at home, or if someone is hospitalised etc then you can't quarantine the hospital.

Not over thinking at all, the 2 week quarantine return was one of the first issues I raised. It's an obvious show stopper, or hurdle, for anyone with a family.

yeah I suppose. Kids are generally pretty robust though.

I'd have no dramas with blokes with kids taking leave without pay.

to be fair, 20 week quarantine/isolation does seem pretty OTT.

I'd want two or three hundred grand to do 6 months away from little kids,

wait,

They should cancel the 2020 premiership season (which makes Tigers the reigning premiers for another year) and have an extended "preseason" comp starting in August (or whenever) if they need the income. Call it the "Corona Cup" or "Marvellous Escorts X-Rated Cup" or some such, run a couple of different conferences to minimise flying desired.

This way we get to see some games, coaches can experiment / shuffle personnel as needed, and generally treat it as a pre-season. They can play some at regional venues who need income and exposure (remember the bushfires) ... Mallacoota has a nice oval, good fishing on the lower lake and a nice point break past Bastion lookout. Betka inlet is great for little kids.

Quarry Beach is a top spot also @ Mallacoota. While every dish is hand made at Lucy's local Chinese Restaurant; tis great for yum cha. I reckon she won't have any Coronas on ice though.

Then you can venture over the border to Merimbula for the oysters! And if the timing is right, watch the procession of whales headed south. some 37,000 went by in 2019.

Hub a good time!!

Biggest load of croc shiit ive heard im my life.
Even in England they're prepared to play on their own grounds when it returns.
what a joke.
Where's Gill?
Where's the audit team.
Millions pissed away by the underground AFL

I went away in 95 to Sydney when Chris Bond bubbled kicked a 30 metre pass to Richo and it cost us any chance of a flag.
Does that count?

Going to sea was forefront of my mind... My old man was a Chief in the days when you signed on for 2 years before leave. Though they were in port for a lot longer than the turnaround times these days so there was a bit of RandR. But despite that he managed to court my mother. My brother followed in his foot steps if that is an appropriate saying for a sailor..spent most of our spring and summer up and down from Tassie to the Antarctic. Like a lot of blokes who leave the sea no job is ever quite the same.
....who abandoned ship first you or the mate?

Well them 2 knuckleheads SHocking and BScott are key architects in the whole thing...

Hockings ramshackle decision making has been out there for all to see past 3 years and Scott had 10 years to fix North and gee.... that went really well:rolleyes:
