Favourite grand final bits

So many amazing moments. I was sitting level 1 AFL members and the thing that sticks in my mind was our toughness. On that wing - cotchin’s tackle, Lambert’s tackle, houlis tackle, Edwards tackle and caddy’s tackle... and the Edwards bump on hopper. Absolutely unreal.
The Edwards bump, has anyone ever seen Shed ping someone down the middle before that very moment?

Just sliced him in half, wasn’t the same again. Never forget the day Shed went nuclear.

I loved the fact that we won the flag with...... Pickett, Lambert, Broady and Baker who were all unwanted in multiple drafts.

Grimes, Castagna and Short were Rookies.

Soldo was a Category B Rookie.

Nank, Prestia, Houli, Caddy and Lynch were targeted players.
It's great to be the competitions leader in all areas, both on and off the ground:clap2

Cheers re Grimes.

When i'm bragging about the Mighty Tigers, it sounds better to say that Pickett, Lambert, Broady and Baker were unwanted in multiple drafts, and are now premiership players, and in Lambert and Broady's case, multiple Premiership players.

Soldo was initially signed on as a Category B Rookie, so he has come from further back than your run of the mill Rookie.

Wow. I'd love to debate whether

1. we won the flag from the rookie list, or
2. our system, process and culture and top tier is just so good, that we would have done it with an alternative bottom 6 blokes (using the term very loosely here) as well, lets say for example sub those rookies for 6 of CCJ, Balta, JRoss, Naish, Butler, Eggs and Menaredue.

I think it would be a spirited argument that would go on for months and cost tax payers millions, and draw the obvious conclusion

that depth wins flags.

It would be like a Royal Commission.

Another favourite couple of bits involve Mav Weller.

1. When he was celebrating a goal in the stands along with the VFL chaps.
2. When he was celebrating the win with the AFL and VFL guys on the ground.

He had only been with us for a year.

Got to taste success in the VFL with a premiership.

Got to play two AFL games at the start of the year on the MCG in front of over 80,000 people.

He bought into the Tiger's mindset.

And he celebrated as hard as anyone else even after retiring.

I loved it!

Onya Mav!!!!!!!!!!!

:clap2

Superb TF!

thanks for posting. I thought the grin on my face couldn't get any bigger,

until right at the end when they speculate on this kid Dustin Martin debuting.

we had a lot of potential saviour through the dark years,

and while our team culture, admin and and list management has clearly won us premierships,

this clip clearly delineates Dusty as our saviour.

Dusty lead us from darkness to the light.

A gloriously spent 5 minutes of my life

If they had the technology to tattoo 5 minute videos. I would get this clip on the palm of one hand. and a dusty highlight reel on the other.

It is majestic.

I was taken back by the flak and disrespect being shown towards Gale. His legend continues to grow.

Thanks TF.... What more can we say about Benny Gale.... Visionary!

He is a visionary. That Clip TF posted details

the formulation and execution of one of the most ambitious

organisational reforms to come to fruition ever, anywhere.

With that elite CV, Benny could pretty much choose any corporate job he wanted on $10m a year.

What would we be paying him out of curiosity?

Lovely to watch
Hope Gary Lyon gets to see it as well - arrogant tosser
Forget Gary Lyon, Benny Gale had many detractors for that plan on this site but we were all well within our rights to be sceptical at the time. Benny just used the classical long term planning techniques but what it did was set clear KPIs department by department, person by person and so accountability grew and the vision was clear. There were no guarantees of success but what was clear was that we were guaranteed to fail if we kept doing what we were doing then. If you think about what has been achieved off the field by this period it is staggering. Every goal from no debt, reserves team, off field capability growth, PRO redevelopment to membership was met.
Benny Gale has been massive for this club as CEO, his importance cannot be overstated imo

I suppose we're getting off track..... but does it really matter?
Still just all about our collective love of Richmond!
Not sure there's a more invested CEO in the competition.
Worth a rewatch IMO:)

Amazing that he stated he wanted the club to be the top club in the league by 2020. Given where we were, it was an amazing prophecy.

His only real shortcoming as a leader that I can see is,

that he didnt given a guarantee.

there's actually still time for him to redeem himself. 1 more flag before the end of 2020 to fully consummate his place

as the greatest sports administrator the world has ever seen.

Benny should really up the ante and come out and say,

'I am literally putting my nuts on the line here today. If we dont win the 3rd flag in the allocated timeframe, geld me'

I'd chew 'em off with my molars, Im so confident we'll complete the 3 by 2020 next year.

(obviously, pessimism isnt my strong suit)

There's an old saying that was used when Benny announced his vision. Aim for the Sun and you might reach the moon. We aimed for the sun and we currently about to reach Alpha Centauri.
