Duncan The Brave.

What we have to realise is that there can only be so many changes next year. Obviously a number of current players are in doubt as to their future at the Richmond Football Club. Such players would have to include
- Clinton King
- Craig Biddiscombe
- Royce Vardy
- Mills
- Rogers
- Dragicevic
- Duncan Kelleway
- Pettifer
- Houlihan
- Adam Pickering
- Tim Fleming
- Rory Hilton

Many of these players will have no trade value as far as other clubs go.
Leon Cameron has already announed his retirement and there is a fair chance that some other players not on the above list will be traded.

If the club takes for arguments sake 14 players off the list and replaces them with fourteen seventeen year old hopefuls, come round 1 next year the club will only have about 25 players that are ready to play AFL Football.
In any case probably half of these 14 new players would have been taken at pick 70 or after in the national draft and there is every chance that some of these kids will have less to offer the Richmond Football Club than some of the players I have listed above.

My point is this - Sure we do need change and we need plenty of them. However you can't turn over half of your list in one year and replace them all with kids as many of the kids (especially at pick 70 and after) simply won't be up to it.

AS to the Duncan Kelleway argument - Dunk has been a great ambassador for the Tigers and has given his all. There are certainly about 8 to 10 players on ths list that I would be getting rid of before I got rid of Dunk. He has the tiger spirit in him. I would rather see him stay on for 1 season too long rather than see some of the other 'neverwillbe's' put on the tiger jumper next year.

Good Post yet again YT.

I think a lot of what happens to some of these players will hinge on how successful we are come trade time. If we enjoy a good trade period it may create opportunity to recruit a couple of extra young players, but you are right we have to maintain a balance of experience on the list and inevitably it will mean that some will survive who probably normally woudn't or shouldn't, but that is part of the by product of starting with such a short list in the first place.

I think some are suffering from old Yella's disease a bit. The loveable rouges are past their use by date and on the decline, but hey just can't bring themselves to put them down, even though they know its for the best.

You will all agree that our teams SKILLS arent good enough.-In particular, kicking
You have to weed out the less skillful players.
We continually turn the ball over by foot.
Duncans Kellaways kicking is never going to improve.
His field kicking is terrible in today standards of the game.
I wonder if any of you listen to what players say.
Take Leon Cameron yesterday who said the game has changed in the past eighteen months.
You people dont realise that EVERY possession is very important and is measured accordingly.
Duncan Kellaway, good bloke that he is is NO longer up to AFL standards,.
Those who go and watch football must realise that.
Imagine Duncan Kellaway trying to pass to a leading forward, NO THANKS.
Watch the way Essendon deliver the ball to Lloyd. Brisbane deliver to Lynch, EVERY player is accountable on the ground, Didnt any of you watch Ports kicking (Foot Skills ) on the weekend.
They kicked the ball very flat and pin pointed fellow teamates on the chest. We kick HELICOPTERS around the ground ,I think I have said enough.
Enjoy retirement Duncan and let the Tigers climb the ladder accordingly. ;)

For the Richmond FC to move forward, Duncan needs to retire. I certainly admire his courage, determination, commitment to Richmond and the way he has come back from serious injury.

However, his skills are not good enough for AFL level. Sunday was a prime example, Tredrea gets the ball delivered lace out and bang on his chest, doesnt have to break stride. Compare this to Ottens or Richo, who have the ball coming down on their head, or more than likely 5 metres over their heads.

If we are to move forward, our skill level is the first thing that needs to improve, turnovers are just too costly in modern football, and we have more turnovers than most other teams.

We need to identify who can and cant kick, and those that cant need to be replaced. Sadly, for all his courage and commitment to the club, Duncan can not kick, and when he gets the ball, breaks down our forward thrusts, and for the good of the club, should retire.

Seriously what is wrong with you people????? You cant seriously tell me you want duncan kellaway to continue playing??? Ill be the first to thank him for his contibution, and his desire to always put the team infront of himself!!! He was an inspiration to all when fit and going, but the reality is he has payed for playing unselfish and gutsy football as his body is damaged beyond repair!!!! It will be sad to see him go, but too have him play on will be an absolute catastrophe!!! When are people going to wake up and realise we have to let past champs go in order to start fresh with young kids???!!!

People on this board have priorities very wrong and to want a player to continue on our list solely to check them out is crap!!!

Its time for all the dead wood to be replaced and the club to go forward with drafting young kids!!!! Although its been used more times than a hooker - look at the pies!!! Malthouse rid his club of all those so called ex champions and brought youth and now unfortunately they are having a crack at the grand final two years in a row!!!

WAKE UP PEOPLE AND LETS MOVE ON!!! Let great servants of the club be rewarded in full, but lets not drag our club further into oblivion!!!!

PS. I will say one thing though!!! I would rather keep duncs infront of rogers, king, houlihan and others!!!

I also believe that all this cleanout is nothing but hot air, to keep richmond supporters quiet till the end of the year, where players like mills, vardy and sipthorp(YOUNG PLAYERS) will get the chop and players like houlihan and rogers to play on!!!!

On his soft 5 goal performance houlihan will be given another year to prove himself!!!!

THANKS DANNY AND CO FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF TEARS!!!!!

If any of those 3 are still at the club it is a disgrace. They should be sacked the minute the final siren goes and the locks changed before they get back to punt road. May I suggest a security guard to escort them out just to finalise the romance of it all.

If Duncan has any dignity and integrity, he should retire immediately. (Rodgers to)
Its absolute hacks like him that have made the RFC a decreped, broken down, decaying and useless football team.
Any supporter who thinks these two will help the future of RFC, should cut their memberships in half and return to sender!!!
If they play next year, they are simply selfish people who have no personal pride, like the coach!
Cameron has dignity and integrity. Wake up to the real world Dunc and Rodgers!!!
These two imposters are in the top 5 of stupid/dumb footballers at Punt Rd.

DUNCAN LOVERS I WANT A RESPONSE! ;D

Surely you lot are kidding about Duncan still having something to offer the footy club as a player? Admit that you think he is hot, that he gives his all, but please stop the B.S about him actually having value to the team. He is 4 years past his prime, and in his prime he was nothing but a battler.

Duncan lacks 3 vital components that are needed to compete in modern day football:

1. Footy smarts
2. Skills
3. Pace

He does, however posess:
1. Heroic courage
2. Discipline and dedication
3. Determination

IMO he can't continue playing with these 3 things alone.

JohnF,

your knowledge of the game and of the club is second to none......very clever reminds me of a past thread that was the best thread made ever...........

totally agree diggler, its about time the RFC stood up and were held accountable.....enough with the players who cant kick and are too slow.....

LMAO PRR. Your knowledge of the lower life forms posing as our recruiting staff is well depicted in your avatar.

Speaking of that wonderful thread, it seems to be coming under threat of late. May need to be brought back to the surface to refresh everyone's memories and let the dudley issue live on.
