How do we revitalise our midfield? If we keep losing, we’re a fair chance of rising to pick 5 in a supremely talented draft.

Another top 10 pick would be great.

I reckon bundle someone like a Baker and Geelong’s first rounder into a pick 6-7.

Be very aggressive at the draft table and we could build the next flag midfield in a couple of seasons.

No to Baker. He was easily one of our bests tonight and easily in our best 22.

Yeah I agree he’s gold, but our midfield is completely bare in terms of under 25 talent.

Graham has really fallen in my estimation over the past couple of weeks.

We are likely going to have to bring in a lot of kids in the next few years and we are also going to lose a lot of experience. Players like Baker and Graham etc while not world beaters are needed to do that heavy lifting while we develop the youth.

If we lose senior players to retirement and then trade out the few prime aged players we have we are going to be asking too much, too soon of the kids and this is a recipe for disaster.

Graham was fine today but he will never be that hard in and under player. He's a link player. Baker could still be anything IMO and would be one of our untouchables.

The is the crux of the matter.

These two have won us three premierships. They will always be Richmond Royalty & owe us nothing..
Criticism is futile.

Graham just looks so inflexible at times. Not sure about him now TBH.
 
If we run with the theory that we need two top 10 picks to inject into our flagging midfield, here’s the scenario:

Pick 5
Pick 14 (geelong’s finishing position)

Short of Geelong shitting the bed, which they won’t, we need to convert the 14 into a top ten.

Here’s a list of candidates:

Graham
Baker
Stack
Coleman-Jones
Dow
Collier-Dawkins

I’d look closely at Baker or CJ (like them both but they have currency)

Our midfield has been our Achilles Heel in 2021.
