Disrespected sports people

Lance Armstrong....cannot believe anyone believed he was clean even before he was busted.

I'm with you on that one, there were a lot of cyclists on drugs then, it has always been a sport with a bit of a taint (don't get me wrong, I love cycling), but Armstrong just had to turn it ridiculous - 7 TdF wins? Really? Did he ever win any other race? Could he maybe have stopped at 4 or 5? No, the arrogant prick had to push it further.

My suspicion was here was a yank a country with little road cycling pedigree (notwithstanding Greg LeMonds victories) doing something way more than any European champion had ever done... Be like a Dutchman beating Don Bradmans average.

Yeah, pretty much. But then the vindictive way he screwed LeMond and his cycling business just showed what an *smile* he is.

I'm astounded by the over representation of asthmatics in high level sports and how they forget to tell officials of their ailment until...

Great thread...

Greg Chappell hit on my mum once so he gets a vote. it was well after he'd retired too ..

More American golfers Byron DeChambeu, Keegan Bradley , Bubba Watson and pommie Ian Poulter

Agree with all except Mr Ryder Cup. Any guy that consistently stoicks it up the smug yanks has gotta be OK.

I've got a friend who runs a well-known cycling event in Victoria. Not a race. One year, they were tossing up whether to invite Contador or Armstrong as a celebrity guest. They brought Contador because they thought Lance was too controversial. Turns out their surveys had Lance as by far the most popular ex-pro. Despite all he did, many forgive him - and still revere him.

Bit of a taint? It's history is littered with questionable drug cheats. Some are even knights. No integrity in it at all for mine. Armstrong merely beat fields of other drug cheats, he's really no worse than the likes of many other TDF winners.
