Discipline aggression and 50m penalties in 2023

Two wrongs don’t make a right unless you are the afl commission when it’s always two rights meaning everything is awesome (Lego movie style)
They applied the common sense rule in this case? Even though replays showed the ball was noweher near being touched as the Pies players were protesting?

Bizarre that they were not penalised. Did the AFL make any comment on this?

No, it’ll all be okay. Dissent frees are at the umpires discretion, remember? So, there’s no actual hard and fast rule around them. It’s more of the AFL’s chooklotto style of officiating the game.

Sure we have some disciplinary problems but to this degree?
This goes well beyond an anomaly.

They're absolutely red hot on us for 50m penalties.
Maybe not so much our opponents..

With SHocking in charge for much of this period you'd not be surprised if he had a word to the umpires target our game cause these along with the free kick disparities are game changing numbers.

Blah.

The fish rots from the head. Very poor leadership around the club and standards are dropping.
This has been going on for years though, the only difference is we where winning matches, so things like undisciplined acts where pushed into the back ground, and now we are losing everything that is wrong is amplified .

our position on the free kick differential ladder is a lot better

the paying of 50 mtr penalties is inconsistent but in most cases we here have been saying our guys were dumb and left ourselves open to it

that we have control of

The vast majority of our 50's are there. And the same serial offenders. If I was Dimma I'd drag them and kick their butt.
What we get is "our players like to play on the edge". Yeah, nah, I don't accept that. We are not good enough anymore to swallow that as an excuse.

We can definitely be more disciplined, but we get *smile* over by the umps moreso than any other team and the club seemingly does nothing about it

Footy Classified stat from Low IQ Lloyd last night reckons that since 2018 we have given away 55 more 50m penalties than the second highest offending team (they didn’t say who that was). 55.

Would like to see the 2018 to 2020 premierships split v the 2021 to 2023 numbers.

The lack of professionalism must be dealt with. Hard, tough, ruthless football is one thing. Acts of petulance that give away needless free kicks and 50mtr penalties is the antithesis of that. Just *smile* poor weak....

We are improving here. Was there anybody who *smile* up? You'd wanna be getting a kick if you did.

We seemed to break even with the umps last night - not too many howlers against, and maybe got some (That were there) but we don't normally get. So was less challenging emotionally in that you felt like you were getting a fair go.

It certainly helped as it was only our *smile* kicking for goal and defensive giveaways that cost us last night.

Let's hope this trend continues.

It was like we'd been cooperating with the umpiring department, RE. Seeking clarifications and acting on them. FWIW I thought we were umpired into it at times. And they were absolutely robbed in the first half.
