Dayle Garrlet or Dom tyson?

Again, Gary Rohan has proven nothing. He's not exactly one to point to as a positive for picking up these types.

Leysy never said Rohan was a positive (though it will in time injury permitting), was more pointing out that clubs that love grunt more than most will still take class & flair when the get the chance.

That's a fair summary if you consider X Factor to be nothing but Class.

I see X Factor as that something special a few players have but don't show it consistently enough to be considered an elite of the game. They flash it around every now and again, change the direction of a game and become AA because of their highlight reel.

Fantastic players to have when you have a solid deep group of dependable players who can carry the load when the Xers are not firing. But we don't have the depth yet.

Surely X-Factor are simply guys who can produce things that most can't.

Why do they automatically need to not be inconsistent over there career as well? i.e. Guys like Jetta, Dangerfield, Steve Johnson etc are X factor players that are now consistent footballers...

Sorry leysy doesnt understand your pidgeon hole.

We have X factor midfielders than can kick goals lots of teams don't have that! We have Riewoldt Vickery King Edwards Nahas all goal kickers supplement that with Cotchin Martin Deledio Tuck Foley Grigg!

All the class players have X factor.
The only two factors to be considered are whether there's a concrete option of Garlett at 9 compared to offering 9 for Tyson.
First no guarantee for Garlett to be there so first and logical choice would be to chase Tyson with 9.

Second and most important isn't X factor it's character. Is one player an honest, diisciplined, hard working person who shares into a team environment? Is the other person a self indulgent, flighty, egotistical troublemaker?

Don't know the players, only whats been written up in the media and internet forums. From what I've read the talent of both seems on a par.
Then it's just a matter of do you go for the Cotchin type character or the Ebola type character.

Garlett v Tyson is a hard question to answer.

Different types, apples v oranges. Very much like Cotchin v Rioli in 2007.

We certainly could do with one of each.
Logically:
We do have a Cotchin type -> Cotchin.
We don't have a Rioli type though.

Hmmm, good question!

Not buying into the whole x-factor arguments or taking risks with our first pick.

Ill have Dom Tyson anyday over Garlett anyday. Will be an absolute champ!

Why is X-factor a risk? Just because a couple haven't worked out in the past doesn't mean they'll never work out. I'd say the opposite is true, especially given the new pro approach of the tiges. Lessons learnt.

As for DT v DG, I reckon they'll both be absolute champs.

its very risky giving up more than pick 9, for young tyson, has we will be facing a mouth watering talent choice for a young gun, who will at a minimum be a good player, if not a star, just like tyson

If that's what on offer ill take another Cotchin thanks!

The X-factor reared it's head against GC so I can understand the cold sweats everytime it's mentioned. But on a serious note, Garlett has had numerous issues relating to attitude which will see him marked pretty harshly - missing training, not playing a team game, being a bit of a night owl. Given our issues with Connors et al, I reckon we'll go the safe route with our first pick. If we get another mid teens pick and Garlett is on the board, I'd say we might be tempted, it's a big call but one which could pay off in spades.

Could Freo/WCE be playing the game? He'll be gone by one of Collingwoods picks.

Quite possible, I'm sure if they are interested they'll be coaching him on how to give the perfect bum steer interview - perhaps another media Darling in the making.

would like to think the likes of Blair and co will soon, if not already, started to get the Tyson to Richmond project underway for the 2014 season.

Tyson still wants to be a Tiger at this stage. But I do get the feeling it's about getting home at the end of the day. So we will see.

If we get this year's draft right, I'd be happy for us to "risk" an "x-factor" player in next year's draft

But not this year's draft and not at the expense of Tyson
