Just wonting some opinions on whether you would want garrlet for pick 9 or tyson! I would prefer dayle Garrlet over Tyson we need a better small forward/mid cause for me Nahas isn't really doing it he always goes to the ground and can't kick on his left foot. We need a real live wire down there like Cyril rioli or Eddie betts and I think dayle Garrlet can do that for us!

I like our recent philosophy of solid reliable players with our early picks. We're not yet in a position where we can gamble with an X factor player who may or may not work out.

Give me a solid B+/possible A grader like Conca, Ellis or Batch over a flashy inconsistent forward any day.

Ah the old X Factor. Dont understand it, but nothing scares Richmond supporters like that word. :hihi

Leysy see's it as a very attractive quality, substitute it for class in a lot of cases.

Even clubs that are blue collar go bang early on these "X-factor" types where they can. Lewis Jetta & Gary Rohan for the bluest collar club of them all anyone.

Garlett yes, we need his X-factor sorry class in the front half badly. Just not ahead of Tyson.

Dont be scared of of the big X folks. Embrace it.

agree with all that. (like the x-factor = class line) Beining gun-shy is not good. Forget the past, this is now. Do the proper due dilligence of course, but if there's an opportunity there, grab it.

That's a fair summary if you consider X Factor to be nothing but Class.

I see X Factor as that something special a few players have but don't show it consistently enough to be considered an elite of the game. They flash it around every now and again, change the direction of a game and become AA because of their highlight reel.

Fantastic players to have when you have a solid deep group of dependable players who can carry the load when the Xers are not firing. But we don't have the depth yet.

my take on that is class is a cotchin/deledio type. they can do brilliant things and do them regularly. they are also consistent.
x-factor is a rioli/nicnat at this stage of theirs careers. their good might be as brilliant as anyones, but they dont have the consistency of a 'class' player.

I blame JON. But in this case, I would go Tyson. All the way. Garlett might be gone at 9. Don't hold a pick on who might be there as opposed to getting Tyson for sure with that same pick.

The acquisition of Knights and Tyson would just about complete or midfield (bar maybe another 2nd rounder mid from this draft).

Then we can concentrate on the other types IMO. I don't think that Garlett will slide to the 2nd round and I am sure there are some clubs who are quietly hoping he will slide to their picks in the first round (WC and Coll).

Again, Gary Rohan has proven nothing. He's not exactly one to point to as a positive for picking up these types.

with a second and even third mid rotation, this allows cotchin, deledio, martin, even more forward line time, this alone will fix any small man forward problem

Yes and no. IMO we still crave for a genuine crumbing forward. An 'Eddie Betts' type.

A team like that will only get you so far, if we had a prime Nathan Brown I reckon we would of been 3 wins better off this season.

Havent seen Garlett play so I cant comment on this particular issue but I do hope we look at some speed and class early on with our picks.

What does x-factor actually mean. The only x-facotr I can categorically give a meaning to are the girls who have dumped me throughout my life.

What were they like at mowing lawns though?

So it's very subjective Brodders. Class players are alot easier to categorise. Can we conclude that x players are more likely to be your outside link players who have the odd tendency to do something amazing?
