The thing about Astbury and Post is that they may both be able to play as a key tall up front and down back. You can throw Jack into that group too although he is too good forward to use as a long term backman . Nice luxury going forward.

One of the most impressive performances of any of the cubs this season I felt, showed plenty...

Think the lad may well be able to play anywhere, like others I thought a while back had the smarts of a very good full back, however for the time been Id be trying to create the three headed monster with Jack and Ben

Add Taylor, Morton and Nahas and you will have Hardwick's Hexagon! ;D

Looks the goods doesn't he and what about Ben.. Griffiths that is. Both terrific. I don't know if Foley will play but if he does maybe Astbury may be stiff against the heavier built Saints.

Super impressive 2nd half. Certainly open to the thought of him playing at CHB for a while.

Long long way to go , however it has potential, though Id still love to find a better sharp shooting version of Nahas

Perhaps one of the junior gurus can help but IIRC Astbury was played sometimes during his TAC games as a CHB while Post spent some time as a marking LMID.
In efect both played similar roles to what they are now being asked to play at Richmond.

Interesting to note that Astbury may have been the CHB while Dea was the HBF for some late games with North Ballarat TAC side.

I am more impressed with Astbury's co-ordination & nous to date than that of Post. In the wet for a tall kid he acquitted himself very well indeed. Astbury will make it - I have real concerns over Jayden at the moment. Good to see he kicked 4 at Coburg. That's a start.

Like the look of Astbury so far. Thought we took him a bit too high when there were a few other names around at the pick but I think it will be a good selection. Smart footballer who makes the correct decisions. Post has a few more tricks but lacks the compusure. Its very important that these guys are developed properly.

Astbury has that defining quality that makes a good footballer - time when he has possession of the footy.

Yep always looks like he has time, he is clean with the ball and seems to alway make the right decision - these are the things that make natural footballers. Very hard to teach these sorts of things. Looks a really good prospect. Like him in the defensive 50.

Just finished watching the match. He is impressive for a first year player. As long he doesn't do a Post on us, he's going to be very key to us as early as next year. Poise and skill.

Watched the game twice now, and the thing I liked most about his performance was that he just kept bobbing up at the right time, especially in the second half.

It was a day when conditions were not good for his type of player, yet I was amazed at how often when a stoppage occured he was there abouts, often contributing in little ways. I kept rewinding the tape to watch what he was doing just before I noticed him and he was always in a position to provide support or an option to a team mate.

Suggests to me a good on the ground work ethic and a good ability to read the play and adjust to the pace of the game.

I remember when we drafted him that there were concerns about his pace. I haven't seen enough of him to comment but it sounds like this isn't much of a concern now.

What has Post done (or maybe that should be not done)?

In my opinion Post at best hasn't improved, at worst he's gone backwards. My take on Astbury is that if he improves as a young player should, he'll be very important for us as early as next year.

Leysy doesnt believe he will do a Post & struggle to continually improve Baloo.

For three, he is already clearly a better kick than Post, is noticably quicker & most definately better below his knees. This despite being the same height & 15 months younger.

He's just a more rounded player.

For Posty to make it he will need to be an AFL level elite contested mark ILO. Now he does have a good set of hands so he is a chance of being that. But his eggs are in one basket much moreso than astbury.

So CHB or bust for Post leysey? In the same boat as Rance, but Post is obviously better above the shoulders so he has a chance.
