Aussies will be a bit conflicted, another wicket and they have to face a few overs before stumps.

Amazing stat that Australia has not had two right-handers open the batting in a Test since Slater and Blewett in 2000.

Test perfectly poised. Ready for heroes to be made.

India - $2
Aus - $2

There to be won if we can bat boldly.

Note - Head is perfectly suited to opening in these conditions.

Excellent intent by the Aussie batsmen. You have to hit boundaries in India. You must attack spinners. Great stuff from Head. If he tons up here I'll be converted. (Still don't want him opening in England though!)

Head is the right man to do that.

Playing meekly in India gets you out and allows the likes of Ashwin / Jadeja to settle into it. They will eventually turn 1 enough to bowl you or take the outside edge if you just allow them to keep putting it in the same area. I'm not sure why more players don't play outside of their crease to them, and ensure they try and get their leading leg outside of the line of off stump. Completely take LBW out of the equation. Batters used to do this all the time to force spin bowlers to mix up their line and length, they would just pad the ball away, but players seem to have forgotten this skill these days. Either pad it away or attack them like Head does.

Allow them to keep bowling where they want to, and you are a walking wicket.

Its one reason I'm loving the style of England at the moment, live by the sword, die by the sword, but you don't let bowlers settle into their rythym.

Is it controversial to say I don’t think Cummins is a good Captain?
Seems to me he works out all his plans n tactics pre match then sticks to them all game no matter what the situation.
We also seem to have nothing but placid nice people having a pleasant afternoon outing in the side these days, no grumpy mongrels sweating out a hangover n looking to decapitate someone.

Any fast bowler have a chance on this pitch? 7 wickets through spin.
Gotta actually bowl a fast bowler before he can have a chance. India did it with great results day one. That Cummins bloke reluctant to bend the back n do some hard work when there's no juice or green in the pitch.

Reluctant to bend the back? Pat Cummins?

This is where they can’t win, be grumpy mongrels and they’re the “ugly Australians”, they play nice and they’re too placid and soft.

He should have bowled 20 overs before he did, and really had a crack at Ashwin. The Ashwin/Patel partnership could be the one Australia regrets if they don't get a result here.
Should have led by 80-90 on the first innings.

Head looked pretty shaky early, still does but less so. I like the logic, we looked very shaky blocking in the first test so we may as well go for shots while we look shaky.

Perhaps, but that's different to saying he doesn't throw himself into his bowling.

So he bent the back for three overs with the new agate at the end of day one. bent the back with the still new agate for another few overs at the start of day two, a few more lateish in the second session then another couple at days end. Bowled what twelve overs during a day n a bit, hardly raised a sweat.

Day one he's done some good work with the bat n then taken a ripping catch late on day two. Not much else to write home about.

Nah. They don't all need to be nasty, grumpy old bastards. Doesn't hurt for one or two of them to have a sharp n spiky edge to them every now and then, just to get the oppo up on their toes n looking around whenever they start feeling to comfortable with themselves. All this pocket pissin smiley nice choir boys havin a friendly chat n a laugh all game long is bull *smile*.
