Coronavirus

Hang on, there is still massive support for states imposing lockdowns and closing borders. Why would a poltician commit themselves to an opening date? Better to let things evolve and take a stance when things are clearer. Can compare ourselves all you like with South Korea but Australians don't accept 4 cases a day let alone 400.
Sure that's true 22. States win support by keeping it out.

But you can compare us to the US or the UK or most other western countries if you want - we need to vaccinate faster, sort the logistics out, encourage people to get vaccinated, use passports, lotteries whatever to get the job done. States could say - you have vax passport, you can cross our border.

You need to give businesses certainty and people hope.

Got the first jab on Saturday, only a slight headache on the day, shoulder still hurts though but not as much. Standard side effects.

Let's see what the next one feels like.

Does anyone know if this is a yearly thing?

Nobody knows yet T but it seems likely that we'll need booster shots periodically.

You know how badly the feds have stuffed up when even Gladys publicly criticises the vaccine rollout. Its also amazing how a couple of cases in your jurisdiction makes you all of a sudden desperate for more vaccines.

Surely the best way to get people to be motivated to get vaccinated is to have a vaccine pass? It’s good to know that using our Medicare records this can be achieved easily.

After you have been fully vaccinated, go to your MyGov account, and there is a PDF waiting there for you to access stating that you have been fully vaccinated. I am assuming this will be your passport.

Two issues here. The federal government haven’t shared a plan on how they are going to open up our international borders. While Victoria and Queensland won’t open up free travel between states who have been vaccinated.

why single out VIC and QLD? surely all states should be opening up travel for people who are fully vaccinated?

There was a recent article linked in here from the Guardian stating that Victoria and Queensland were against having vaccine passports.

I had heard the Pfizer story a while ago but there was no way of knowing if it was rumour or truth. The story I heard was that there were Government officials and lawyers involved and that the end game was manufacturing in Australia with some potential IP control and Pfizer would not achieve that. They wanted an mRNA vaccine that could be manufactured in Australia.
We have to be careful to see decisions made a long time ago in the context of what we know now but the thing that annoys me is that we never get the truth from this Government. Just come out and say " we backed the wrong horse, we aren't perfect".
We will never get that from this evasive untruthful Government but to be fair we rarely get that from any politician.

I don't know if it can be Ian because it is only available if you haven't opted out of My Health Record so there will be a significant number who won't have this record in MyGov

I opted out of My Health but the info is still passed on to the site....it is just not available for others to see for medical care.
So I had to opt back in to get the info available for me to access and print a record.
Took a little while with the usual password to and froing but got there easily enough.

There is a thing called AIR , the Australian immunisation record that I believe all vaccinations are recorded so I suspect you are right that it is available through that and in MHR if you don’t opt out.
The record should be available for a future “passport” anyway via AIR when I think about it

I have tried to check my wife's immunisation record on Mygov only to find that she has to have her own account, which has to use an "exclusive" email address. She has to create a new email account to enable her to also create a Mygov account!!!

Painful or what.

Merlino just slammed the vaccine rollout again today saying supply from the Feds is a massive issue & that we're so far behind it's not funny.:(
Merlino is doing a good job of attacking the Feds without sounding like he’s desperate or pleading.

It’s clear the states are combining to make it Morrison’s problem, they must all know why we are short and if Morrison pushes back, Glady, Andrew’s or any of them can drop the public relations bomb.

It’s going to get messy.

Yes but necessary given not all relationships well intentioned.

yeah, I tried to cash $10k out of Mrs EZ's super, and they wanted to speak to her.

I couldn't believe it.

but when I told that her super fund is only getting about 8%, and I can get 600%, she was straight onto 'em.

Does anyone have a simple explanation of the differences in physiology between say a 55 and 65 year old that makes AZ unsafe for the younger person but safe enough for the older. (Is there any other medications that have such distinct age distinctions)

And told them to bar you from any access.
But if you can get 600% I’ve got a bridge….
