Coronavirus

yet your mates in the right wing media (eg. Bolt and Jones) have suggested this more than once. and its clear people have believed them. Have you called them out for it?

I've commented here that Bolt has lost the plot on this subject. I've commented under his articles with "I usually agree with you but..."

My last couple of comments didn't get published so I don't bother reading his CV rants.

A young couple had a baby in Lismore Base Hospital last night and the baby had some complications and was airlifted to Brisbane (pretty common a hospital helicopter ride from Lismore to Brisbane, about 20 mins to brissy, 1.5 hours to Sydney)

anyway, they aren't letting mum or dad over the border.

1 day old baby in Queensland all on its own.

true story.

On the money again eZyT, common sense??

This article gives us a taste of what has been going on in aged care and continues still. The strain on our public hospital resources to get involved in private aged care has been very significant.

So sick people from private aged should only be treated in private hospitals? and keep the public hospitals for whom?

That is completely bonkers.

I think you have completely missed the point.
Public Hospitals are being called on to staff many private aged care facilities In the actual private facility and that is putting an enormous strain on their resources. Nurses who have no background in aged care nursing are doing this work because there is no one else.
It has nothing to do with aged care patients being transferred to public hospitals, although that is happening as well.
This is about our public system picking up the pieces for the failings of privatised aged care.

Imagine the furore if its good enough to play state of origin?

I dunno if Margaret Atwood could think up this 'separated at birth' plot even after 4 coffees and a bong

But the shiny arses in the CBD can do it while they put the footy tips in.

Theres controversy raging at the moment (I know theres plenty of dumb controversy going around)

because health workers aren't considered 'essential'

the major hospital, the one with all the surgeons and machine for NNSW is Griffith Uni Hospital at Southport for public and John Flynn at Tugan private.

patients can get an exemption to them for treatment (chemo etc),

but the staff cant.

so you get your exemption and go over the border for chemo, and your treating specialist isnt there, she's stuck in Kingscliff.

so then you try the local (tweed) hospital, and their specialist is stuck in Southport.

true.

and the nearest Covid case is in Newcastle.

But I imagine the day after the election in October, Palucheque will declare Qld OPEn for Business.

Today we see another drop in the infection rate, the trend is looking good, let's hope this keeps going down.

COVID19 7 day ave 18082020.jpg

Likely to see deaths rise for a while as is the case with this virus overseas, this will be hard.

But, it looks like we are turning the corner, we need to keep this up if we're going to get the numbers back down.

Criminal that these public hospitals have the right to refuse entry to someone sick.

"About 90 per cent of Victoria’s COVID-19 cases are likely traceable back to one family who quarantined at Melbourne’s Rydges Hotel in Swanston St, an inquiry has heard.

But precisely how the virus escaped from hotel quarantine remains a mystery, with investigators unable to pinpoint the moment of transmission."

So the night manager wasn't patient zero after all.

Suggest they examine the so-called "North Melbourne cluster" more closely. Won't happen.

can you provide evidence of public hospitals denying treatment to anyone requiring hospital treatment?
Was reported last week in the SMH in regards NSW Public Hospitals and also reported in The Age back in July in regards Victoria. Also in the Australian 4 days ago.

Have noticed a lot less cars on the road the past 48 hours.
I reckon the tightening/clarification of the rule that you can't drive to exercise even within the 5km radius has made a big difference on that front.
