Coffee

The OttO has been an epic flop reflected by the RRP going from $800 to $600. It LOOKS superb with all the polished stainless but its basically an overengineered Atomic. I attended a demo and we all sat around for 15 minutes while it produced a stingy little 15ml shot of coffee. Maybe OK if you live on your own, have heaps of time and only want one short black in the morning. BUT, if you have busy mornings making kids lunches, fight with the senate over the extent of the meniscus on your morning flat white and like to top up and have half a second brew (a full one on saturdays when the senate sleeps in) , then the ATomic is Dustin Martin, the OTTO, Nick Daffy

Cheers GW. Hence why I am going with the Atomic!

Thought I'd bump this off season thread.

I've been brewing pour over filter coffee pretty much exclusively note, and been reading up on other manual methods. Anyone used an aeropress?

I've discovered this

http://brewsmith.com.au/new-brewsmith-beerspresso-its-beer-coffee/

Combines my two favourites, beer and coffee. Awesome.

only been drinking coffe for 8 months and now enjoy one every mid morning.
normally at work, a large for $5. a standard is $4.20

anyway, a local cafe in my town has put their large coffees up from $6 to $7.60 on the weekend
and standard from $4.40 to $5.40
WTF!
(country vic)
how much do your local cafes charge?

Cappuccino this morning country town. $4.40 for a mug. They always make beautiful coffee there.

Large flat white $4.50 at best coffee place in Warrnambool. Roast their own beans as well.

You getting ripped off.

Have quit the stuff for 3 days.
Gettng headaches and nausea but sleeping like a baby and now more energy.

Feel terrific.

More calmer.

Might give it the arse for good even though I love the stuff.
It actually smells much better than it tastes.

Water is the greatest drug.

Wondering why elite athletes drink it as the stuff makes you tense.

Still off the stuff and feel absolutely tremendous.

Will take a year to feel the full effects though.

I was drinking coffee at a stage to feel normal but I noticed my heart palpitating and I was starting to mumble to myself.

That's when I decided to give it the flick.

In large doses, this stuff is like what I imagine bloody cocaine or heroin is to drug users.

No wonder it's a massive industry.

You're supposed to drink it Smasha, not snort or inject it. That's probably your problem. ;D

Best coffee shop in Melbourne.

Mailing house in Canterbury makes a mean mug.

I agree. :hihi

I can't do the filter coffee mld. Too watery for my liking.

I have a Rocket R 58 with a Fiorenzato grinder. Makes a pretty decent espresso. ;)

ruby, the rocket is one very sexy machine. I'm jealous

coffee snob here. my local (near work) recently dropped their price for a large from $3.50 to $3. gotta love competition!!! its a shame we're relocating in 6 months.

I'm not a real coffee aficionado and am happy drinking Moccona, milk, 0 sugar most of the time. Love an occasional cappa or latte (half strength skinny) when out and about. Our local coffee shop is 3 ks away and my rule is if I want a coffee there I have to walk the dog down to get it. My son recently brought me home some coffee from Columbia. The same day I saw a coffee machine on Buy Swap Sell for 20 bucks. Snapped that up and gotta admit it's making some of the nicest coffees I've ever had.
