Yeah, for the AFL it sounds like it is just one more cliche' mechanism. I like the idea of the miked booth - now THAT would be entertaining.
Does anyone from within the club have a twitter or facebook account, just out of interest?

Did anyone see a few years back the replay of a Brisbane final with the Brisbane coaches box audio?
It really was fascinating to listen to the coach as the game was unfolding. Far better than the idiotic commentary put on by Cometti and his buffoons.

being an interstater who works most weekends, I've only seen 3 games this year, so i heavily rely on sms score updates from my provider, i think this is a great idea, count me in!

They will be from a ghost writer I would envisage.

heh heh. some phones have swear filters on the message service. all the messages might just say the same thing:

Coaches sometimes give quick interviews in the breaks. I don't imagine Jade will be sitting there typing out the messages himself while ignoring his duties. I expect someone else will send the quick comment and those responsible for the magnets and players will be doing their jobs. I guess only time will tell how it all works out.

I'm not a massive fan of the interview during the game either. It's just a distraction they don't need. Happy for the texts to be a brief summary at the end of the game, before the press conference. That would be great. But not during the game.

Actually it would be a legal issue.

Under the Trade Practices Act, making a false declaration is illegal. If the club sold a good saying it was "from Jade", and it wasn't, this could be seen as a false declaration (opening the club up to prosecution by the ACCC).

My money is on it being similar to the celebs and their twitter accounts. Words from Jade, but typed in by some flunky

Not much use asking me sorry TT.  I wouldn't have a clue how it will operate.  My assumption is Jade's words would be typed by another person. I certainly don't expect them to be sent from Jade's personal phone.

These days coaches give a few comments to the media during the breaks on their way to the huddle they don't give away anything and I would suspect this the same someone will be told by Jade on his way to the huddle.

Still good idea and will give it a shot.

I had a few constructive suggestions to make at last Sunday's game.

On a more serious note, not a bad initiative for the members and I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Could just repeat the same ones each week;

Qtr1. We're getting smashed at the clearances.

Qtr2. Our disposal is hurting us.

Qtr3. We didnt turn up to play.

Qtr4. Poor kicking for goal cost us the game.

I've signed up for the SMS.

No doubt it'll be light-weight, but could provide a talking point at half time whilst watching the Little League.

If everyone at the ground signed up, I wonder what 70,000 SMSs arriving simultaneously would sound like!

Oh, no no. The SMSes will always be free. Don't worry about that.
And phone numbers won't be given to sponsors or to Richmond,
in case anyone's concerned about that.
