I was even thinking of Bolton to the wing to put some spark through the middle. He was good there for a few games like the Giants late in the season & even got Brownlow votes from memory.

He's been poor as well. His pressure act points have been way down and I suspect he's been given a message. A little bit surprising considering Rioli is also dropped but the only ones I think have performed to a semi acceptable level in the forward line this year are Higgins and Lynch.
14 Players had lower Fantasy points
16 Players has less tackles, (Shai had 4)
20 players had less goals , (Shai had 2)
Makes perfect sense to drop him

Rioli getting gifted games is a worry . As @caesar said we all went to Arden Street last year a one half of footy got Rioli a game the following week. The only thing I will say about Shai getting dropped after watching the replay twice that several times he just spectated . Dimma is big on what you do when you haven’t got the ball . Watching Dan Butler last night he just runs and runs and runs and puts enormous pressure on opposition when they haven’t got ball .( hopefully Shai was watching ) I think the bigger issue here is not Shai getting dropped as I said to Caesar during the week he might , but Caddy getting a game is beyond belief . Unless they have a different role for him ♂

We know the coaches are massive Shai fans, so there's a legit reason he's out. His pressure points are down - not by as much as Caddy's, Higgo's, Baker's or Lambert's are, but more than Dion's, George's, Shed's or Rioli's are. Is he our leading goalkicker? (7)
He's only had 19 touches total in the last two games, maybe it's as simple as they want him getting twice that. Maybe, like Caddy last year, he's going down to run more so we can play him on the wing - how far behind George and Danny was he over 4 laps @caesar ?
Anyhoo, there's a reason. And he'll be back.

I'm wondering about that or some other key stats he didn't measure up in... I'm sure there are reasons.
Age games and goals.... we better hope we win this or the dynasty really is over
Bolton has been better than Higgins.
Rioli must have played a blinder of a scratch match, as he’s been consistently worse than Bolton.
The dropping of Bolton makes us slower as well. Starting to wonder if the wrong person is pulling the strings at selection.
I reckon Lambert has credits and also he relies on running the ball once we have possession. The rest of the team playing badly would make his role difficult.
Stunned that Rioli got the nod before Bolton. Bolton has been far better. Apart from injury or trying to swap around the game time for the small forwards I really cannot see the sense in this.
