Changes V Pies

I think we should be talking 2022 now.

And we will have Soldo back so he becomes a huge part of the conversation. In fact the conversation is pretty simply "Nank and Soldo are our rucks".

But one or both will be injured at times, so we need another genuine ruck who can play forward, which is CCJ.

CJ can also play as a third tall. Infuriatingly, we still haven't really seen the Jack, Tom, CJ combination because the match committee blew the chance all year, then we had an injured CJ when it finally happened.

Samson is also a prospect.

Which means I'm not sure where Chol fits. Odd, considering he's been our number 1 ruck for a month. But less odd when you consider how awful that month has been.

Chol should go back to the VFL, play back for a month, to see if it's possible. If not, he can be depth or trade.

Until we can’t make finals , I say we keep playing to win , 8 weeks is a long time in footy.

The 22 that’s out there now is not getting the job done for a variety of reasons , so it’s time to tweak imho, obviously the Senior stars keep playing if fit at this point, however many of the “role” players are out of form so I’d be making changes in that area , obviously lots of ”ifs” as in fitness , however I’ll start with Chol out Nank in, Stack In Short out , George or Aarts out, Parker in , Houli out , Nigel in . Dow, RCD , Ross , Bolton given more midfield time . Play Dusty forward .

Parker wasn’t great yesterday, however I think he’s enthusiastic ways a what we need , he looks like a bloke playing for his career, looks like he wants success.

If we need a key defender to look at , happy to give Miller a look , though I don’t think he’s up to it, has improved a lot from 2 years ago , so who knows , though I still think Biggie is a loooong way off, I think a senior game or 2 would be fantastic for his development, like Balta appears very relaxed, think a taste of the intensity needed for AFL would be great for him.

lastly , there’s enough kids with talent to not play blokes carrying injuries , back the Cubs in Dimma , let’s see what we’ve got in the sheds

Dimma has to freshen the team up in the best way that is currently possible with the players available. Got to get some new energy happening because, at the moment anyway, the team seems to have lost its collective spark.
I'm with Mr Sunnysider when it comes to "playing to win". The season is still there for Richmond. I'm not giving it away yet.
But injuries have taken a huge toll and I'm guessing that team selections over the next few weeks will/should be more about the future and re-setting for 2022 and beyond. If that is the case, then I hope the MC can be bold and back some of the younger players to have a crack.

Must pick a team to win, but agree we must rest the injured. There's a balance there somewhere and hopefully the selection panel can find the right balance this week. We don't want see players who are obviously carrying injury busting a gut but unable to play to their ability. No one wins in that strategy, take a risk on a player who needs to earn their jumper. Just don't want unfit, injured players out there.

Have to get back to old winning forward line formula. eg 2019 GF Jack, Llynch, Daniel ,George, Cotch, & Lambert. Shai was I/C .

Are any of Lambert, Perstia or Nank ready? If ready they play. Stack time now - logical replacement for Houli, Mansell right there too. Parker 2 games 20 tackles, game 1 for Richmond I would suggest? Rioli's ? its throw the magnets left right and center time. Needs to find a way to address the CCC's. Confidence, Connection, Compete (they are trying - just not the Richmond pressure we have come to love) .

A few tips for the Tigers against the Mudpies.
Do not stare at any Collingwood player. That will result in a free kick.
Do not punch the ball as that will be penalised as a throw.
Do not say a single word to the umpires, as that will result in a 50 meter penalty.
Do not tackle a Collingwood player as that will be holding the ball against you.
Do not run with the ball as that will be called as more than the allowed distance..free kick in front of goal.
Do not try and mark the ball as that will be in the back and a free kick
Do not remonstrate with the umpires after head is nearly pulled off, free kick for umpire abuse.
Hope the players get these messages, all given to help them out of sticky situations

And don't think that just because the opposition get a free kick for something that it will also apply to you.

Probably be better to just forfeit the game.
