Changes v Aints

Hardwick back to 2015 with his selections.
Pickett out Conca in
Soldo out Griffens in

Perfect season to see Cj, Dow and Cd, but he is persisting on a bloke that syruggles against true tap ruckmen and brings back the headless chook.

Biggest concern for me is this.

Both lowered their colors last week.
Marshall i guarantee will start in the ruck this week, not Ryder.

I reckon if we show nothing tomorrow, the boys have checked out.
Watching the hawthorn game again, we played like we did under Hardwick in his first year.
Uncountable & Unskilled.

You watched the Hawthorn game again? Jesus, you're a sucker for punishment. It was *smile* and we were certainly checked out. Agree, need to show some focus this week or it's going to be a struggle.

Not real fair, the kids tried their guts out in the first year. It was close to the youngest Richmond's ever been, relative to the rest of the competition. The teachings from those early defeats were the foundation for the club's reversal of fortune.

These blokes are premiership players with far fewer excuses.

Fair enough.
Then against hawthorn we were more like Richmond of 2016

Four mostly form based changes in round 4?

would never have happened 2018-19.

urgency. Club knows it, we know it.

saints need to be taken down.

I wouldve preferred another tall even if it was Balta as a pinch and a point of difference.
I'm with you, Craig. Don't like us going in with a side spotting the Aints about 3cm on average a player. They should control the air and will be all over our tall forwards. We still don't rate marking players enough, despite having our FL curtailed by just that along with blocks and spoils. And with oppposition flooding too, it's hard for our SFs to get into space, hence bombing it in uselessly. Same same.

Balta can even it up somewhat as can be played anywhere and is hard and fast at ground level too.
Interesting to see how the Bloos overcame Geesook's vaunted defenders (and team that destroyed Dawks in 2nd half) by playing 3 talls (Casboult, McKay, McGovern) with instructions to separate which they do effectively so that one of their's got space. Often these tall defenders want to operate in tandem or a pack so that one of them is bound to get hands to the ball.

Happy with the changes. KMac instantly makes us a big team, which is a necessity for shorter quarters. Like seeing him and Caddy on opposite sides.

Pretty happy with the changes. I would have dropped Stacky and either kept Soldo or have Balta in but other than that all good moves. The Saints will try to control the air in the backline and then run it out like Hawthorn did. Need a big lift from the midfield so we are not just dump kicking it and getting picked off at will in the air.

We're officially In Trouble if we don't win this one.

Oldest Tiger side since R12 1983.
But still younger than West Coast, Hawthorn, Geelong, and the "young guns" of Port, and not much older than Collingwood, Essendon and Carlton. Fair to say everyone's going older this year?

If we lose, I'll take it as a sign we're not fit, rather than in trouble. We should win though, half their team have played fewer than 50 games.

Yeah, everyone's playing best available to try to avoid falling off the pace, and kids aren't getting much of an opportunity. Hawthorn named 14 of its 15 oldest players last week, with the mature rookie Keegan Brooksby the exception. Might be some easier games in the run home against teams that are out of the running and catching up on development.

Happy to leave it for the autopsy if we lose. But it would be a lot more signifcant than the past fortnight's performances. Not going to put a margin on it, but I expect us to get the points.

Who will relieve Nank in the ruck.

Hope it is not Lynch again.

He is not a ruck man and we need him as our primary forward.

Would have liked Soldo in the team as well, but I'm not a selector.

Not sure why we are so intent to go against what worked for us last year with Soldo and Nank. Strange.

Jack Graham should not miss a game. Should be inside mid. Not out on a wing. He's vital for our other mids to play their natural games. Jack never makes it easy for the opposition to win a clearance. Dropping him was a mistake.

Big danger game.

No hope if we do as we did last match and just bomb it into the forward line.

Our success has not been with that sort of entry.

Firstly welcome back Bob.

Secondly great points. I have been completely against the one ruck playing only. However if we are going to go down that path I much prefer its Nank.

Our biggest issue is the drop off of pressure put in our offensive half. Its easily allowing the opposition defence to lauch their attacks but at the same time push the game closer to the boundary line, denying us the corridor which we love to play through.
