Changes for Semi

We were 'off' last Friday. Defensively not switched on. The goal to Rich was the first alarm that went off. Not allowing teams to switch and forcing them down the line or force a dangerous kick is our strength. This didnt happen last week.

I expect the focus to be right back against the Saints.
Very true, we didn't have the desperation and alert concentration we needed. Maybe over-confidence had set in bc we'd beaten them so many times before and just expected them to play the same way and fold in the 2nd half. Our guys didn't allow for a more determined and fierce tackling opposition who just played better.
I bet they won't make that mistake again.

I'd like to think they learned their lesson from the 2018 prelim loss

Gonna be interesting to see how things pan out.

In Hannebury and Hill the Aints are all offense out wide whilst the Tigers are running with defensive wingers.

If they get us in the middle and on the outside we will have some trouble, we must nullify them inside or at least break even.

truth is that evryone makes it sounds like e were slaughtered in everyway..however take out the dumb fifty metre penalties (the first one was insulting, bolton is chicken winged and shoved..gives a shove back and yet it bolton gets penalised). and put lynch or caddy in the side and we win by 5 goals,,,,we will not play that bad again...and taht was a good as the lions play.......port and pies will not play any better either.....

As a logical supporter who likes to think he knows his footy and is a realist, I can seeing us win this by 60+

Lions had finished top 2 two seasons running. Cannot fluke that. Hard to imagine that they hadn't improved more this year than we have. We went in complacent. And with underdone players.

This is true, amazing how every victory last weekend proved the victor was massively superior to the vanquished. If a one point win off two freak goals makes a team the hottest team in the league a 15 point loss just proves how lucky we have been to win two flags.

I think there are 4 $1.10 flag favourites at present.

I would be very tempted to play Oleg. I am not sure who comes out, and how it matches up against the saints.

Given they have lost two talls, I would be very open to moving Balta up the field to play as second ruck and forward. I think this could have been tried against the Lions in the last when we need to break open the game and negate their tall backs.

Should have been tried in the last to win the game.
Dusty one out FF too.
Don’t know why we didn’t pull the trigger to win the game. Straight into a PF at home...
No guarantees on Friday ...

I cannot believe we can't go again to this week's final. Want us to win obviously but does dampen my enthusiasm for the game ahead I've gotta say. *smile* covid.

I understand that we have our system and we are going to back that every time but our 22 players shouldn't be our system too.

We at least need to respect the strengths of our opponent and while playing our system and negate the opposition's strengths by changing our personnel as needed.

Playing our players regardless of fitness or matchups smacks of arrogance and revisiting 2018 where we were found out.

Loyalty to your senior players is great but loyalty to the club is even greater.

Without meaning to get ahead of myself, I think the changes this week are more important for what we want to do the following week (or two).
We want continuity in our playing group.
We should be able to beat the Saints with or without Broad, Oleg, Artz, Caddy, Ross, even George, Marlion or Rioli come to that. We should be able to take pretty much any combination of the players whose names are being tossed around and still win.
The bigger question is, what does our best line up look like? And what do we need to get past Port and Brisbane? Settle on that and give them this week, next week and hopefully the week after playing together.
So, for me, Broad in for Marlion or Jake.
Broady runs the wing and either helps out in the ruck, or goes down back for a bit here and there to let Noah help out in the ruck.
I'd like to have Oleg in for his pace, but can't really see how to balance the rest of the team.
And obviously that leaves Mabs going out for Tommy.

Hardwick has gone back to 2013.
There is whispers that he will go with Nakas, Chol and lynch.
Book your holidays kids.
Too tall, too slow
