Callum Coleman-Judas - extricate yourself to Nth Ballarat, you git

He dropped right out of the game but it was noteworthy who scored the goals after half time.

3 Bolton
2 Castagna, Martin
1 Rioli, Graham, McIntosh, Balta (on the run)

Not sure whether this was by design.
As a team how many marks inside50?
First half to second half?
That dried right up as essendon put numbers back, but as you say we swarmed them and kicked plenty

In time. Currently keeping ruck time low to keep his energy levels high.
Reckon it builds over the season
No, I don't think that's it. He's rucked plenty in the twos for years.

It was about structure forward of the ball, which is irrelevant if the other mob keep walking it out of the middle.

This may sound crazy, but hear me out. All four may be included for certain games, particularly if Astbury doesn't regain his spot (for whatever reason).

What if one of Jack, Lynch, Nank, CJ and Chol is always on the bench?

What if Jack spends most of his time playing higher, well clear of the two tall forwards? That allows Jack to be a great link man, and to give us greater aerial presence between the arcs.

What if, in general, the ruck that takes the centre bounce then drops back to fill the hole in defence, or at least stays a kick behind play? That would help counter the fact that we seem a tad short down back at present without Astbury.

Discuss.

I like the idea of a rotating tall off the bench.

and Melbourne are showing the way with 2 monster power ruckmen.

jeez that left foot i50 (is mabs a lefty?) by mabs to dusty was sublime.

Mabs has to be the smoothest moving big in the game?

Definitely a lefty, saw him kick one with his right on Saturday and it was nowhere near as good as his left.

JAck the wingman like Richo in last few years.........gives us that out of D50 mark target, just works arches to arches....I like it.I like a lot.
then Gawn is forced to run to contest to contest all day..
100% agree with this.
Definitely need two tall forwards and JR roaming half forward.
Definitely need two proper rucks.
Either
A use the second ruck from the forward line, but fatigue will be an issue.
B use them from the bench, but one less mid rotation.
Nank drops back to help anyway, but yes, we need more height down back.
The other option is to play Astbury but then can't carry that many talls and he can't ruck.
Otherwise a back comes out...Broad or Houli....neither thanks.

THey were great games, the Carlton game (we lost) and the Bombers game. For the Carlton game i was up on the top deck of the old stand that came arouind and met the left side of the Southern Stand., and for some reason everyone was tripping on the step next to me. The crowd grew so large that they opened the gates to the steps up from the old stand intothe southern stand. People were left standing watchnig the game on the steps, with the line coming right along the front of the top deck of where i was sitting, so we basically had to wath the game standing up.

We put on a hell of a fight with a depleted team. Scotty Turner got 4 weeks for breaking Brett Ratten's nose in an incident where Turner was running with the flight of the ball only to see it pitch in front of him and bounce back over his head. He pulled up to change direction and his hands went up as a balancing mechanism, and Ratten also watching the ball ran into his hand.

The Tribunal said that although it was an accident he had to learn to keep his arms down, which is patently stupid, as the bdoy's number one survvival mechanism is balance, hence the pull of muscles to correct balalnce wreckin gthings like golf swings or kicking actions or whatever.

We went into the Bombers game without Turner and made a great fightback from a poor start. James the injector Hird starring at wone end, and Benny the astute Gale starring at the other. Injuries to Maxfield and Michael Gale on the night. Maxfield a broken jaw, can't remember Gale's injury!
Great memories of those games. I think in that game Michael Gale broke his collar bone. We were banged up that year but kept on winning.

Can't recall the circumstances but I was sitting in the Ponsford, a very rare event. Must've been ticket-only.

Can remember the crowd seeming huge but it was "only" 85K.

CCJ is still a pup, competed hard and is a real threat in the air.

Part of a functional forward line, has a future no doubt, I don't think it will be at Richmond however .

Too early to call! If we play Jack, Tom and CJ and are successful, why would he leave?

Unfortunately I was not in Melbourne for that period... watched it on telly of course and remember thinking that with Jurica up forward everything was clicking into place, premierships here we come

Nice to see the likes of CCJ and Chol show the same form they have had in the VFL into the seniors.

Form of both will make them hot property.

Club must keep both IMO.

Looked good during the game and comfortable at the level.
Had a quiet last quarter but looks like a player.

Played more good minutes. Must find a way to keep playing him when Lynch comes back.
