Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Definitely a mental issue. That’s what you do when you choke. You over think it and make rookie errors ala novotna v Graf. This guys has eaten, breathed and lived footy his whole life so he can pick the thing up. Club will help him through it but he also needs to be held to account for his output.

At his size Higgins does need to be exceptional. When he's not..oh boy.
2nd year blues? Just a form slump or something more?
Is he happy at the club? Happy in general? The jovial nature has not been there all season & now it's reflecting in his football..

He hasn’t done anything to be ‘jovial’. I can’t remember anything this year that matched the things he was doing in games last year.
Is he fit?

Needs to learn some new jokes because he doesn't seem to have any tricks on the field at the moment.
Miles off his best and probably deserves a stint in the twos.

This is what happens when the match committee refuses to drop you. Had he been dropped 5-6 weeks ago would have had some weeks in the 2s to get some touch and form and from there who knows. Leaving him in the ones has him mentally shot and doubt he will recover this year.

If given some games in the VFL he will be played in the midfield, and then brought back to play in the forward line.
Anyone got any ideas as tho why he spent time in the midfield last year, but virtually none this season?

Looks borderline as to whether he will make it

Needs a stint in the twos to get his confidence back, and this would have happened a month ago if Lambert, Cotch, Ross, Edwards, or even Grigg was fit.

Dimma has backed Higgins all year despite average performances.
It hasn’t worked as he has gone further downhill with every week.
Needs to find form in the 2’s, which as previously stated, would also end the Bolton farce, which is in danger of spiraling into an actual Crisis.

Overloaded in the 1sts. He's played 23 games in a row since R15 last season. Time for a rest in the 2nds.

you cant defend his game. for a bloke that is 20 inches tall, he has the ball skills of a baby elephant. he has no influence in the game. every possession is short and the most damming knock on him he is sooooo slow.
he is another who might have a very short career

I'm surprised Zips, your not normally one to write someone off so soon :D

Higgins has the ability, his confidence is shot at the moment. With his lack of leg speed, good ball control is imperative, he just doesn't have it at the moment and needs to go to the 2's to get that back. He has the skill, we all saw it last year, he just needs to get the mojo back but that needs to be in the VFL.

I’ve never understood the “rest in the twos” theory. They’re still playing a game of football and presumably giving just as much as they would if playing AFL.

The word I used: overload. For a kid at 19/20 years of age he might be getting ahead of himself and/or tired of having to do too much at a higher level. It's a psychological problem some have. Maybe he hasn't got it I dunno. Just my thought.

Hasn't it always been the norm in any sport on players getting dropped if they don't perform well?
