If pretty boy bowden plays another dud game today then its time to put out to pasture. let him run around for the burgers and then let him go at the end of the season. He's on the bench as i write this and i for one think thats flattering him.

I won't tell you what Joel's president thinks of a ridiculous post like that.
Joel's been far from our worst player this year so why single him out?
He mightn't have been B.O.G. today but he put in and made plenty of contests at least.
Why not hope the players come out of their slump rather than bag them endlessly? ::)

Its not only Bowden. On today's effort I think the whole list has been put on notice. Thats why theyre putting in, theyre playing for their careers

Personally I would have preferred Zantuck play than Bowden. At least Bowden did make a few contests, but would that goal he gave away in the first quarter have come back to haunt him after he turned it over with a typically Bowdenesque effort, had we lost by that margin?

You can't blame a result on one particular incident. It was a terrible kick causing the turnover but it was in our forward line. None of the other players stopped it going down the ground for a Sydney goal.

A few players had some ordinary disposals and out on the fulls etc...including Brown who I think was best on ground.

I don't blame the game on that incident, but it is just so typical of Joel. He frustrates the hell out of me. I think he's one of the most completely skilled players I have ever seen and when he just turns around onto his left foot and lazily drops the ball onto it and kicks it right into the man on the mark then watches in disbelief as the Swans sweep it away I feel like screaming. He could have kicked a goal! Not given one away. We had loaded the forward line and when the ball fell into the Swans lap we couldn't get numbers back into defence quick enough to stop the Swans running it into their own forward line. Efforts like that are why people bag him and he makes it so easy.

Joel's real problem is that, when he's on song, he makes AFL football look about as hard as kick to kick with the local primary school kids. He also has a laid-back kind of demeanor that people mistake for a lack of heart or an uncaring attitude. This leads to him being labelled as lazy sometimes.

At his best, he is so good that we tend to judge him by different standards to others, and he suffers for it when he is not playing well.

He is clearly one of our best 18 players and if he gets his confidence back and those around him play well, by the end of the year he will again be up there in the ball-winning catagories of the stats sheets. His tackle count also seems to bely the perception that he is a lazy footballer who doesn't chase and doesn't give a stuff.

I, for one, hope he regains confidence and form, because the team will be so much the better for it.

I still think people only see what they want to with Joel. A prime example is concentrating on one super lazy kick ahead of a great second half effort where he got in amongst it and got the ball off to team mates.
He made the most of his recall and deserves to stay in the team on todays efforts.

hey guys, look i was mad as hell with that kick too, but its not about one kick. its about years of bludging around the back of contests, of being terrribly left sided and about being scared of the physical stuff. hey, if it had been about one shepherded kick i would have sacked the whole club after 1980. No, its about week in week out fair dinkum having a crack. and Joel doesnt measure up. Give him a spell in the ressies and give young men who are hungry a go. if he cant turn it around in another month, let him go.

it must drive the flea crazy!

just remember one thing guys, they dont pick themselves weekin-weekout. so dont get personal towards him. i hope he turns his form around.

hey shipper

they sure dont pick themselves, but hell they take the cash

work that out

what would you do? say no thanks i dont deserve this money? u would have 16 other blokes in the same boat from round 2 to 5. Of course he would rather be up there than down in the dumps.

Hit the nail on the head rosy. Was at the bottom of most packs in the second half and a couple of his tackles saved goals. Also his super lazy kick was came after a hard earned mark and he was attempting to play on quickly....better than Sugar's handball in the Swans fwd 50.

He's also taken a pay cut every time he's been asked, unlike other players.

ok ok ok

we might disagree on pay and on simplistic examples from a game today, but he simply doesnt deserve a game.

1. doesnt put body on the line
2. no right side
3. wont man up
4. cant hit targets
5. plays smalll for a fairly big guy
6. no team ethic
7. he's a bit of a rabbit

Has played far better than Chaff all year...talk about no right side and not being able to hit a target.

We have 8 left footers in the side and only Brown can confirdently use his right side and Hyde is the only other player who'll even attempt using his right side.

Was our best player against the Saints...so not only judging him on today's game.

He's the supporters favorite whipping boy and I can't see that changing any time soon.

I disagree. Both Tivvendale (especially) and Fiora have shown they have the ability to pass competently on their right feet.
IMO it is more a confidence thing. The less confident they are the less likely they are to back themselves on their non preferred foot. Lefties in particular.

Hey bg25, how you can forget the bleeding obvious ??

8. He can't tackle HARD !!!! (he just touches opposition players)
