A few times in last Fridays game I thought I was seeing tambling, he just reminds me of tambling for some reason, hopefully that doesnt last

M R the two kicks that hit targets were not lace out but kicks floated up to the players (no different to kicks by raines which were the subject of much critism on this site)

my concerns is his ability to defend. sure he finds the ball hanging out the back. But the guy is never in there getting the hard ball. I hope he finds the passion for the yella and black to play the hard ball like matty white or the postman! come on houli show us what ya got! we need that roar!

I think we need to accept that outside mids are a key part of any team. As long as you have decent inside mids, outsiders are more damaging sitting out the back. Peter Matera never won his own ball but sheesh he could set up Sumich after he got the ball from Mainwaring etc.

Houli had 83.3% disposal efficiency (2nd highest on Tiger list). Only had 1 contested possession but at least it is showing he did not waste the ball and that's exactly what you need from an outside player. Conca in fact took the honours with 86.7% efficiency, congratulations young man, as that included 8 contested possessions and alot of constant pressure in that backline. At the other end of the scale, Luke McGuane managed 44.4% disposal efficiency - he only had 9 possessions. Think I will say no more on that.

His spot i reckon is as a half forward playing ahead of the contest. He has the skills to hurt sides and he looks like he has the engine to work up and down the ground consistently.
From what i can see under Dimma he will either go when it is his turn or he won't play. I am pretty sure it's one thing that isn't negotiable.

Look I don't think the Houli Douli is the answer to all our outside problems but he brings so much that we don't have. And for what ever reason he didn't get a extended run at it while at Windy Hill. I think he is very creative by foot and finds space very well. We have too many blokes who cannot even get close to finding space and then when they get that odd moment in space, they crab sideways. At the very least Houli finds space, runs hard to the space and is aggresive with the ball movement.
You can't make a proper assessment of Houli yet. One preseason and one game with us. No form to go by.
