As l see it

Struggle,

First , great post. Agree on the majority of your points. I hate to see the tigers lose, and would be disappointed if the tigers deliberately tried to get priority picks.

The problem is however, I think we are only a couple of injuries away of that happening anyway.

I hope that it doesn't happen, as its much better to see the Tigers win, and hopefully turn over the list with players that have much more worth in the player market.

Imagine winning less than 5 games. Who would want some of our "tradables" and what would we get for them?

But I do agree with Claw about the best way to get back on board. Beck or no Beck. I find that through the internet more people are judging the young players and posting their thoughts.

As they said after last years trade - there was only one suprise in the top 30 picks.

So we wait....

I will be sitting back, watching with expectations, reading PRE and just simply following the Tigers this season.

For those that do not know me, I do not get to the games as I live 11,000 miles away, but I do have a reserved seat and a membership, just in case I decide to come back to Aus some day.

Snuggles nice post.Like you and like most we live out our dreams at every game. Unfortunately recent years (say the past 25) have been more like a recurring nightmare. I don't think anyone wants the Tiges to loose but I for one will not be too saddened if we end up with priority picks. I don't think we have the list to threaten so lets not repeat last year and finish near the bottom but not get the rewards for it.

Gee hindsight and a crystal ball would be a useful tool around draft time.

If you talk to the supporters of any club they will wax lyrical about the one that got away. Becks record is not great but then neither is any recruiting managers record.

James White was mentioned as a failure. I don't think he played but not because he didn't have skill, but because his legs couldnt stand up to training. From memory I think it was shin splints. Not something that Beck could be expected to know. Pat Steinfort was touted by Ray Jordan as the best junior he had seen. 3 knee recos later he is dropped off our list after not making it in the seniors. Again Beck probably cant be held responsible for not recognising his run with injury.

Aaron James is one of the great wastes of talent. To recruit him is understandable. Our problem is that we couldn't control him and force him to apply himself. Again this is not Becks fault.

Off field there is obviously problems but on field is where my concerns lay. To finish 14th with 1 win from 14 games is not my idea of fun regardless of what the profit was or how many Board members resigned. Lets focus on winning games and once we do that my suspicion is that the finances will take care of themselves. Success = more members = more sponsors. Without success you rely on business decisions made with the heart rather than the head and on unsustainable funding sources such as gaming venues. Both these have been proven to be unreliable

So looking forward lets hope to win every game but not be surprised if we don't. More importantly lets demand that the current coaching group try/develop/persevere with the players who are the future of the club so that next year we can move forward. IMO this is where Danny has let us and himself down greatly. I fear that the RFC he will probably leave at the end of this year will be in a far worse position than the one he was given 5 years ago.
