Alex Rance

Best defender I’ve seen at Punt Rd , the ability to stop his opponent as well as help out team mates and then repel is clearly the best I’ve seen . Don’t know if there’s been another player who could play on so many different types and beat them all. First key defender to be tagged ?

No doubt there’s been many great defenders , Scarlett, Fletcher, Dench, Silvagni etc etc, however I garuntee some may have been as good, however none would be better

Im not mate, just tracking the stats

Great to see cars parked around the ground, I wonder how many are there to watch the great man.

Eighteen possessions first up after almost three years out. He is a freak of nature.

You're basically just Trolling now.

Langford, Leppa, Jackovich, fletcher not in the same class. Scarlett and Silvagni probably his only rivals since I've been alive.

Can't agree on Jakovich. Rance was the better player for mine, but he only shades Jakovich who was definitely in the same class. Jako regularly kept Wayne Carey under wraps, enough said.

Were you born when Bruce Doull was playing? He was an outright star. Only bloke I have seen who compares to Rance for sheer influence on the game.

The 'Flying Doormat' was a freakish footballer.
A dam tough and fine footballer.
Loved watching his duels with Royce Hart.
Should be in Carlton's Team of the Century ... and if he's not then that's just crazy.

Born, yes. Old enough to remember, not really. That's why I ignored Dench etc.

*smile* “*smile*” had a good record against Carey.
Richmond was crap at the time so it doesn’t count.

Noticed Rance’s recent Instagram posts liked and supported by many current and x Richmond players, including Jack Higgins.
I hope this goes some way to killing off some of the ridiculous accusations that he left the club in disgrace but also understand that some people seem to enjoy perpetuating that narrative
