Alex Rance

This episode from the start didn't seem right.
*does his knee.
* perfect opportunity to take family away for a European summer, but hangs around all year to rehab.
*gets told he wont be part of the finals, but still hangs around and trains
* Watches the GF from the Coaches Box, celebrates with the team.
*He is in the first group to return for the preseaaon.
**under a week before Xmas, he comes out and retires.
*after the draft, after the trade period, after all the list lodgements.

It just doesn't add up.
Lot of unanswered questions and here's two more...
Would we have won the premiership without his continued involvement in almost daily coaching Grimes & Co. to play his sweeping defensive role in his absence?
Did that dedication put too much strain on his relationship with his wife?
I guess the media will follow this story.

The rumour i heard is that Alex played up with another players GF
the lack of tributes in the media regarding his retirement from his team mates is deafening
That's what is going around, if this is indeed true there's little chance of him being invited to any reunions in future let alone back to the Club! Having said that i'd rather not give it any oxygen, the trolls will well & truly take care of that.

Regarding the rumours :- I call its bulltish

Rance - Not that type of person
Lady in question - Also not that type of person and way too young for Rance to be interested in anyway.

What i find really strange about the JW thing is that the family were JW';ses but were happy for their son to become a footballer and now its an issue
Strange religion

That's the stupidity of the religion, the MIL does talk to me!
Sneaky woman is just subtly trying to convert you n then you can lean on ur missus. That way the MIL gets her daughter back n lots of JW brownie points for converting you n resurrecting the daughter back into the fold.

Whatever happened, pie-in-the-sky speculating won’t help anyone.

I just wish there was something we could do to help the guy out. Tough times ahead.

What a sad, sad thread this has become.
We love everything about the Richmond Man and the long craved success and joy that it has brought about in our lives.
And then we get this. A return to the possum crap, dark days of mental midgetry led by a bunch of keyboard nuffers that would bring pride to Essendon.
After 15 years of PRE it might be time to find another forum to follow.

If suggest the rumour have been created from those outside the club to destabilize us. They can't beat us on the field....

I am not a JW and not a religious person except when praying for a Tigers comeback or an outsider in Race 5, but I think a lot of people are over-reading the JW thing here.

Rance has said he wants to develop more in a spiritual sense, which presumably means he wants to devote more time to his religion. But that does not mean the JW organisation/hierarchy/followers/whatever is behind his decision. He has talked about this some time ago and came close to leaving then. Why would the JW people think now was a good time to go rather than 3-4 years ago?

I think this is his decision entirely. I don't see the JW people brainwashing him or anything else. In reality, if they were cynically trying to use Rance for the exposure of their religion to the broader public then surely the longer he maintains a high profile as a champion footballer, the more mileage they will get.

I feel like I've stepped into a movie theatre after missing the first critical 20 minutes of the show and now am now needing to ask what the hell has happened.

That would be a shame and an overreaction.

Check the rumours board or twitter Craig. Pretty shitful stuff if you ask me.

The article on pages 13 of yesterday's HS says he recently he went to the US to take part in the Ocean Warrior course focussing on self-care and mindfulness.
Why would that be necessary when we have Emma Murray at the club for that very purpose?
Perhaps he had become too focussed on himself and his wife just had enough? If true, this is a common issue for high achievers to deal with.
