AFL FINALS FORMAT

We play and beat Brisbaner in the Q?F we win the flag I reckon.

Actually we win our Q/F we win the flag.

Cant help but feel , we keep winning , are going to play the other 3 sides in the 4 , the teams from 5-8 to bow out ,

Bisbane first obviously

then the loser of port/geelong to win the following week ,

then the winner of the port/geelong game to make it to the GF .

So either Brisbane - Port - geelong

Or Brisbane - Geelong - Port

Not sure what I want more. Us beating the Cats in the big one or Cats not making it to the Grand a final again.

Tough.

Can only think Eddie must've tied on a big one @thepinkflamingo postmatch for him not to have ticked off where and when everyone is playing..... C'mon Ed, wakey wakey!

Amazing that the AFL haven’t straight after last nights game told us where, when , time the finals are.

I guess the issue is ‘hub’ issue for the Pies vs WC game and forcing the Saints vs Dogs game touted for AO.

Only thing I can see is causing the delay.

Nah... Ed still working on getting sidebum special dispensation. .. kill 2 birds with one stone... looks after the newborn, whilst keeping an eye on Stephenson snuggling up in an extra cot!

No way I want Geelong beating Port as if we win against Brisbane as we should I don't want to meet Port in home Prelim.

Only way to avoid Port in their home Prelim is for both Richmond and Port to win week one, (i think?)
Hi Caeser, if Port win against Geelong, they get a home Prelim. If they lose against Geelong, their Semi would be at home, and if they win that game, they would then travel for the Prelim.

Im not sure about that because my understanding if we win and they lose week 1 ,

We become the higher ranked team , they come onto our side to earn the right to meet us in the prelim ,

The two winners week 1 that go into the prelim , are the home sides ( I think :) )

I could be wrong, but don’t the two teams that win straight thru to the prelim from the QF take the home team mantra?
If that’s the case, it won’t matter who we o,any in the prelim provided we got there by beating Brisbane

Great thanks, feel better, just beat Brisb week one and the Premierships ours;)

Credit to Hinkley this year. He made some bold calls and statements at the start of the year and was roundly ridiculed for them. As minor Premiers, you'd have to say he was right.

Totally agree - why they haven’t had this worked out in advance is beyond me - they would have known since Geelong won on Sunday who the top 4 teams were.

Can’t see what the delay is.

Yeah, they've done well. A really nice new crop of players with some hardened veterans. But I'd love to play them in a final with Woodflop and Bully's lovechild Bonnar in the side. Woodflop is a talent but timid at this point, and Bonnar makes Shorty look like Gary Ayres.

I'm a massive Georgiades fan but he's not ready yet. Marshall is a talent but not much presence about him. Their backline is full of shorts who play tall and don't run. We'd flog them in a final.

Would love nothing more to do that.

They have done all that can be asked of them but let's face it they've had an armchair ride. They did have to play their first 7 games in Brisbane but 5 were against *smile* sides (GC, Freo, Adelaide, Melbourne and Carlton) and one was against West Coast who were all still crying for their mummies because they had to leave the security blanket of Optus Oval for 4 weeks. The other was against Brisbane and they got smacked. Couldn't get an easier start to the season.

They did beat us fair and square but our side was severely depleted and Adelaide Oval is a huge advantage for them. They should make at least the PF weekend due to home ground advantage but I have no real fear of them; especially in QLD. That said I would rather avoid playing them in Adelaide.

Good luck to them; they have done well to use the advantages they have been afforded due to this odd season. But I can't see them beating us, Geelong or Brisbane in Queensland; and that's what they'll have to do to win the flag.

C'mon, Rids. They were coming off a 5-day break and were missing Rozzee when they played us. We were only coming off a 4-day break, travelled the morning of the game, and were only missing Chimp, Dion, Sheds, Bachar, Nank, DTLD and Graham.

Yes very good Spook :mhihi

As far as that game itself they did beat us fair and square on the day. Unlike the Scumwood and Giants games where our extreme wastefulness cost us both games; our opponents didn't win (draw) those games; we lost them.

Anyway it's pretty clear who has the more upside out of us and Port coming out of that game.............

A bloke who works in our Adelaide office is a Port supporter (despite that he's actually not a bad guy). He tried to tell me that they were also missing Burton, Westhoff and Ebert from that game :rotfl2 . I said I'll give you Ebert; maybe...............................

He also likes to talk about their 36 premierships; I tell him C grade doesn't count.

They did, mate. Strangely, it was the most enjoyable game of the year for me. A Saturday arvo mid-winter cracker. Probably helped that the sun was out that week and got a lovely long walk in before the game (I think I took 90 of my allotted 60 minutes that day).

(And that I watched with the sound down, music on, through a psychedelic lens. Certainly helped with blood pressure and laughing off all their rewarded flops in the first quarter.)
