AFL Betting Thread

Just finished a small nose in front. Went down taking Geelong head to head but recovered with the Bulldogs head to head yesterday at $1.95.

if you put a $5 bet on every match this year and went against the fav you would be ++++

I finished a little ahead thanks to some nice roughies Brisbane and Port getting up.I didn't have the guts to back the Pies.Bad mistake.

having a look at this weeks fixtures, most games are reasonable one-sided in the betting.

however think I might have plucked something with the Bullies to roll Port on there dunghill.

-WB Will be confident they can travel well after beating Bris,
-Large wide ground will suit there multitude of quick runners.
-Am still not convinced on Port, one good game against another team not travelling well & everyone thinks they're back in premiership form.
-Just have a feeling in the left one that eade will have them keyed up for this
(& when i get that feeling in the left as opposed to the right its look out bookies )

currently $4.00 & Leysy thinks its way overs

I agree with Leysey.

Some juicy opportunities this week.

Geez Leysy, I was thinking of having the Power 73+ for the jackpotted footy quad this week. Maybe I'll have to think again.

Yeah I saw that Footy quad has jackpotted,  would be a good snare!!

& dont go letting me talk you out of your bet (ol Leysy aint in the best of form ATM) the only winners I'm gettin are the ones tipped to me :'(

i think port will roll them for these reason:

Luke Darcy, knee, season
Tom Williams, ankle, season
Chris Grant, knee, 6-8 weeks
Daniel Giansiracusa, 6-8 weeks
Adam Morgan, 2-3 weeks
Ben Harrison, knee, test

Daniel Giansiracusa is a major loss for doggies has been kicking 2 goals every week and setting up heaps

Port are getting some of those dangerous players back that they so dearly missed

Port after big win and kornes brothers starting to dominate forward lines

I cannot see bulldogs kicking enough goals to win

I'm with you Sudden Impact. Can't see the Pups winning.....

alwite alwite,

but dont come back ere on monday saying ol' Leysy hadnt told ya :p

Round 12 should produce some exciting footy.

Nine's Friday Night Football comes from Subiaco, where West Coast ($1.11) take
on Essendon ($6.75). The Bombers were slaughtered last week and will need to
lift their game immensely to trouble the Eagles. Watch this match on Nine from
8.30pm (check your local guides).

On Saturday afternoon, Hawthorn ($3.10) plays St Kilda ($1.37) from the MCG.
Both these sides suffered disappointing defeats last week. The Saints need to
start winning consistently if they are to be a genuine championship contender.

On Saturday night, Carlton ($3.35) host Brisbane ($1.32) from the Telstra Dome.
A win for the Blues could lift them off the bottom of the ladder. The Lions will
be hoping to win consecutive matches for the first time this season.

While this contest goes on, Port Adelaide ($1.28) clash with the Western
Bulldogs ($3.70) from AAMI Stadium. The Western Bulldogs have injury problems
and shouldn't trouble the Power.

Nine's Sunday Football comes to you from the SCG, where Sydney ($1.53) tackles
Fremantle ($2.50). The Swans could crack into the top four with a victory in
front of their home fans. Fremantle's form has been tough to read recently and
you never know what kind of performance they will produce. Tune into Nine at 1pm
for this match.

The second leg of Nine's double header sees the Kangaroos ($2.20) play Richmond
($1.68) from Telstra Dome. This should be a fairly tight contest. You can watch
it from 4pm (check your local guides).

The final match on Sunday is between Geelong ($1.50) and Adelaide ($2.60) from
Skilled Stadium. The Cats have been disappointing in the past couple of weeks
and will be looking to kickstart their season with a win in front of their fans.

On Monday afternoon, the Magpies ($2.65) and Demons ($1.48) will contest the
final match of the round. Both sides have been in great form and this one could
go either way.

I only like Hawks at those odds at the mcg....and crows a little

I'm going with Geelong to cover 13 points at $1.85 v Adelaide down at Un-skilled Stadium.

I might have a few $ on Ben Cousins ($3.50) to be leading disposal getter tonight just to create some interest in the game for me.

What's everyone else doing ?

I think its a two horse race between brawn and Cousins for most disposals barring injuries

Here is what im going off..
1.look at this weeks likley opponents and direct match up
2. look at strength of mid-field for and aginst...
3. look at possies of player and other players
4. look at possies trends
5. make a judgement on all of these catergories

Cousins record of possies this year

cousin is named in the centre - quick reciever - will get good feed off quality mid field and back line - possible match up - peveril: hard at it player - ok skills - gets the pill dosent recieve - not likley to rack up many possies got 10 last week - may even tag cousins or judd

looks the goods and has got plenty of possies week in week out
good form in subi

He will be in the top 2 possie winners at $3.50 worth it alone

Judd at $ 5.50

starting on-ball - only had two 30+ possie games the rest were all around or below 20 - gun but dosent seem to rack up heaps of the footy known for quality use not quantity top 4 maybe but if he lines up on monfries or someone young he may just got crazy and get another 30 + game

Brawn at $8.00 heres his record this year

got most on ground last week and is building in possies on form - dont know alot about him - opposition could come from murphy who will be rusty after missing how many weeks? or stanton i see Brawn as a real threat running wild on the wing and getting quality ball from a great midfield

Good chance and at $8.00 im putting some on him

Fletcher at $3.65

Flecther is a gun - may well play on a younger opponent and will go well i would suggest but at $3.65 dosent do it for me with past performances

Cousins and Brawn are the two have shown the best form at subi

Bombers midfield is lack luster jason johnson and to a degree welsh are the only dangers

Looked at previous teams midfielders that went well against the bombers and it seems centremen have gone well and wingman

I would rate only 4 west coast players a chance to pick it up in this order 1. Cousins, 2. Fletcher, 3. Brawn, 4. Judd

Im going to put money on Brawn at $8.00 great value and Cousins at $3.50

I quite like Brisbane to kick the sweep this round at $6.00 Apparently it is p!ssing down in Perth so that may harm the Weales tonight.

Carlton have no one to play on Jon Brown. Only indoor game apart from Rich v Kangas which I wouldn't think would produce the highest score of the round.

Dont like to bet against myself but im confident so here goes nothing.....

Tips for the week are

1. Cousins at $3.50 for leading possie winner, read last thread Return = $ 17.50

2. Brawn at $8.00 for leading possie winner, read last thread Return = $40.00

3. Hawks to upset Saints at $3.00, Saints are getting some players back this week but there is somthing wrong with them at the momment and just think at the MCG with the Hawks anything can happen!! Return = $15.00

Total Return needs to scenarios A&B and i couldnt be botherd working them out

.I dunno jimbob.I still reckon Brisbane are dodgy.Carlton, as *smile* as they've been, are due for a big 1 I reckon. It's rare to see a Pagan coached side continue to lay down like bitches week after week.

Not saying Carlton will win.Just may be closer than you expect.
