Adem Yze

Three things in particular have really impressed me with Yze this year and I am starting to think we may have a really good coach

1. In basically every game we looked gone (against The Suns we were!) but he seems very astute at changing things in game to turn things around. He is not afraid to make changes in game, something Dimma never did a lot of. He has made us a much more contested footy and clearance team already, after a terrible start in the 1st half of round 0
2. He has the group. They have a resilience and fight which is very impressive. Already you can see the young players are playing for him.
3. He is so calm, calculated and clear in his message.

To be 10 goals down against the suns and turn things around, to be down against the swans in the 3rd quarter and fight back, to nearly pinch a game that looked gone against the blues and to come back in the last after the performance in the 3rd quarter today shows me that this group has ticker and resilience.

Win or lose I reckon we should enjoy watching this team grow this season.

Great post. Not to nick your thunder, but a couple of other points:

1. Given the injuries we have endured to key players, the fact he has been unwavering in his commitment to his playing style has been very impressive. Rugged defensively, hunt clearances, stick tackles.
2. His style is what the elite teams play and what is now THE way to play. Look at how we sag off manning the mark and look at how Dimma has the Suns playing. Yesterday's man still has his players manning the mark like it's pre 2021. There's a reason why they have been leaking goals constantly.

I've just posted this elsewhere, but he seems to be resurrecting a few careers, or getting more productivity out of a few role players.
He gives his players belief, and they're responding.
I'd like to add this to the observations above.

Loving Ooze's work, however IMO he should have brought on McAuliffe earlier on especially as Dow was struggling with the ankle.

Not sure we concede 20 I50's in the third if he's playing.

Agree, two great points.

Yze had the reputation of being a very astute footy tactician and you can see it already.

He needs some luck re injuries and some more purposeful and better recruiting before 2025.

A first gamer is going to be the stopper? Think we had more holes in duke than Dow At that stage.

Even with a depleted side with plenty of inexperience , we have been pretty competitive!

The players are definately playing for him. No question there.

Dealt a Dead Mans Hand straight up in the Casino Royale thanks to the injuries.

Not so much a stopper, but he might have had a centre clearance or two to somewhat ease the avalanche into our D50.

Yep, things are looking a lot better than what the media is making us out to be. But for 3 injuries against Carlton before half time and 2 injuries and a suspension prior to this week we're stiff not to be 3-2, and mostly against sides that most have predicted to finish in the 8, some top 4.

Something is working really well, we've just struggled with a consistent squad of players available week to week.

Big test next week against the Weagles. Our first game that we really should win we've had this year.

Well said Sinners, not all coaches like to pull major tactical levers mid game but Yze is one of them.

Just doesn’t have the cattle at the minute and probably won’t for the majority of the season.

He needs to work out this week
The best 6 options in the foward 50.
Martin (quality but no pressure when ball hits the ground)
Bolton (full forward, the only 1 capable of kicking multiple goal)
Then we have Mansell, Rioli, Green, Campbell, Tefau.

That's getting to 1990 quality.

No Todd Breman or Stevan Jackson though
