2024 Draft Thread

Im talking about you Robert ,,and your posting ..not the RFC....
ffs. Did you spend all night in the Red Lion again ?

For a 3rd time: we can address it in 2025.

Furthermore, if you weren't in such a daze, you'd have recognised this 2024 draft has very little pace in it. Something every man and his dog (including me) has mentioned infinitum. So again, 2025 looks as good if not better to address it.

Now wake up Bungal and get with Blair's thinking. It's pretty bloody obvious what he's doing.

two. Pick 28 & 89.

(I think we got pick 89 created for trading out pick 27 for a future pick??)
89?? Okay I didn't read that far down the draft order...................

Can we trade that for North's 2026 first rounder?

Wouldn't worry about the speed-midfield gap. Yeah right now it hasn't been addressed but that's short term thinking.

As Blair said, we're trying to build a team and not looking for instant gratification. To that end, it looks like we'll have 3 early 1st round Draft picks in 2025 so there's much more to come with this build via the Draft.

9 picks inside the 1st round of the AFL Draft over 2 years. That is unprecedented.

If there was to be any concern, it wouldn't be over the positional needs, mids, speed, whatever. It'd be that 3 players are coming to us off serious injuries.

That's the real risk with what we've done, but even then, that's somewhat mitigated by the fact we've got said 9 1st round picks and can wash that risk through a bit.

Blair is unreal. Genius.

The only query I have is with the Faull pick and it's not him, it's that Berry fills a need more and maybe Faull lands at the next pick. But it feels like we have top end talent at every pick, every pick is upside and has risk attached. If we can get three A graders who play a lot of footy we've done really well.

Really excited about Hotton and Armstrong. We drafted groups of mates. Existing relationships, groups of mates coming together, Brisbane have done this really well. Lalor and Faull. Hotton, Armstrong and Trainor. Talent tick and no d'heads.

I think it goes off the number of list spots you have.

We had the right amount of picks for our list spots going into the night. Then once we traded pick 27 out without trading in another 2024 pick we activated our 5th round pick at pick 89.

If we trade out our pick 28 for another F1 tonight it'll activate our 6th round pick at 105 or something silly.

Who do we take with pick 28?
What about trading 28 for some latter picks, the Bombers have got picks 37, 39 & 43, grab a couple of them, or get a few picks pack back that we gave the Lions, they've got a truckload, 46, 47, 49, 56, 59, 66, 69, 95 & 99.
There's still plenty of good players available.

Reckon we only deal 28 if it gets us another first rounder next year.

Yep.
Very disappointing.
We have the slowest, most unskilled midfield in the comp and our draft selections did nothing to address this glaring problem.
You think you might have missed my point.

We grabbed the best available.

After the first 7 the midfield depth of this draft faded away quickly.

What, you don't think we can add to our midfield next year ? That's absurd.
Get back on your meds Robbie ,what are you talking about.
Were did l say we can't add to our midfield in 2025,,,you have been going on for months we need to add speed from this years crop,,stop back tracking .

Yeah, and so what's your problem with what I'm saying then ?????? !

Here's a tip for you Bungal. If you're gonna try and be a smart arse, think it through a lot better beforehand because your attempt right now is an abject failure.

Taking Faull at Pick 11 was a surprise, but the intel we had must of been spot on, no other tall was taken till we took Armstrong, so no doubt Faull would have gone before our next pick, and hence must of been the best rated KP in the draft pool

Blair played his hand perfectly
