2022 - March to the finals

If we somehow pull off a flag the change from the halftime vibe vs lions where the season was over and plan for the future would be remarkable.

If we get there and go out week 1 or week 2 and interstate though will still feel like a waste given top 4 and home finals we gave away.

Let’s get there first though. Looks like win one of next two.

We need the 8 to finish so that we can knock out Blues, Pies, Cats and then Demons to win the flag

For the Round 23 game against the Bummers, will our cheer squad be at the Punt Road End or the Ponsford end?

I am not sure about the finals this year but this season, by necessity, we have blooded a fair few youngsters who have done well plus a few more in the wings primed and ready so the future looks bright.

The way I look at it, finals this year is now a bonus for so many young players - exposing young players to finals footy accelerates their development so much more - and I don’t think we are just making up numbers either.

When you look at the games we threw away, those games against crap teams where we lost by a goal but really should have won, we'd be a lock fighting for a top 4 spot.

Barring any brain fades, we should make the 8. We have the game style that suits finals footy. We also have the most experienced Premiership winning team in the AFL. We're still in with a good chance.

If Martin makes it back for the finals, the AFL, might as well start engraving our name on the cup now.

This week if tigers win and saints lose then we lock in finals
Gives us a chance to rest one or 2 of the boys if needed.
Not sure I agree with the theory but if they need a rest this will be the week to do it.

I have heard a narrative that a team that plays 3 finals games before the grand final will not be able to defeat a team that has played 2 finals games before the grand final. So in 2015, Hawthorn travelled to Perth to play Eagles in week 1 of finals and lost, beat crows in week 2 of the finals at the G, travelled to Perth to play the top of the ladder Freo and won. Then they played the eagles in the grand final who had had played only the 2 finals as opposed to the Hawks' 3 finals and beat the eagles.

Virtually anything is possible from here on for Richmond from lifting the cup to finishing 9th. If we win our next 2 games, even with our close losses from the last 2 months, we will only have lost 8 games which is 1 more than what we lost in 2017.

8. RICHMOND (11-8-1, 115.8%)

TAB ODDS: Premier: $17, Top 8: $1.10

R22: Hawthorn (MCG) W

R23: Essendon (MCG) W

Predicted finish: 7th

The Tigers looked cooked a fortnight ago, but have suddenly found a second wind as they surge towards September. Their destiny is now in their own hands, as they sit two points clear inside the top-eight with two winnable games to come against bottom-six opponents who they have already beaten this year. After last weekend’s 38-point triumph over Port Adelaide on the road, one more win should be enough to secure the Tigers a spot in September. But, you would back them to win both and head into an elimination final on a four-game winning streak. Presuming Fremantle wins at least one more game, the highest Richmond can finish is seventh. Therefore, a first final might be on the road. However, the Tigers’ know their best is good enough to beat just about anyone, anywhere.

I have 3 scenarios by the predictor, playing either lions, pies or dees . Comes down to the last round blues v pies and lions V dees at the Gabba
Freo and Swans are both likely to win both their games.

Anyways, In finals, we fear no one!!!
What’s in the way becomes the way! Dimma also likes to say “sometimes you choose the mountain but sometimes the mountain chooses you”. Bring on the mountain!

in the unlikely event Melbourne and/or Collingwood lose their last 2 games, we will be travelling in week 1 of the finals.

But if Collingwood and Melbourne win their last 2, and we snag 7th spot (which is likely), we will likely avoid travelling in weeks 2 and 3 if we make it that far.

Most likely scenario for me is playing the Bears up there in week 1. Or if they beat Melbourne, we play the GoDees.
