2021 List

Looking at CBA & Rookie payments for 2020 are Minimum base of $80k, $4k per senior match & a max Bonus of $12k for games played

So Bakes for example would have got a minimum
$80k Base
$80k for playing 20 games
$12k max games played bonus
$172k all up minimum
And I’d hope he hasn’t paid for a latte, beer or salmon on rye in Richmond for the past 2 years

And I’d hope he hasn’t paid for a latte, beer or salmon on rye in Richmond for the past 2 years
Can't see Bakes as a latte & salmon on Rye type of bloke.
More a beer and Ham, cheese & tomato toastie, or a pie, (swimming in sauce).

Apparently only need to take 1 pick in the draft this year. We will likely take at least 2, but I could see us trying to push our 1st into next year. We have 40 on the list at the moment, needs to be between 37 and 44 and I'd hasten to think that the clubs near the top of the ladder will most likely have smaller lists than the bottom teams, so I'd think tops we will have 40 on the list.

3 out of contract, Garthwaite, Miller and Eggy.
That’s how I see it too.
Clubs near the bottom will stretch their lists to nearly the max.

4, Houli not official yet

We won the flag, have huge internal growth to come , traded out fringe players, traded up in the first round this year, already have 5 picks in the top 50 of a supposedly super strong draft next year.

Never been better placed for success in the now and the future.

I have a feeling that we may need to promote two of our rookies to the main list simply because our number of category A rookies is slightly higher than the new numbers stipulated.

Under the plan for next year that primary list figure has now been cut by two - to a maximum of 38 primary list players - and clubs can have up to a maximum of six rookies (four category A rookies and two category B rookies) for a total maximum of 44 players.

We currently have 6 category A and 1 category B rookies.

So with 33 on the primary list it appears that we can add five players to that list;

Pick 17
Pick 36
Pick 61 - young Rioli?
Pick 79 - rookie elevation
Pick 97 - rookie elevation

Would be great if someone with more nouse than me could put together a table of our playiing list.
eg: Number, Name, List Category (Main, Rookie A, Rookie B), Contract status.

I think this would give us all a good picture of what our plans might be going into the draft.

Note English and Turner have not been removed from the list.

Thanks TigerMan.
So we have 41 players on that table - 6 of them are Rookies.
Remove English and Turner and we have 39 in total (40 if Rance is included [he is still on the RFC List]

So we have 34 players on main list (including Rance)
6 Rookies

We have 4 spaces on main list (if Rance is retired)
We have 1 space on the Rookie list.

Suspect we take two at the draft (maybe 3 if we take Rioli - or maybe rookie him)
Upgrade two rookies (probably Baker and Pickett) allowing us to take two more rookies (perhaps English and / or Turner)

Of course their could be 1 or 2 delisted players from other clubs that we may be interested in.

There is 100,000 of us members but I'm probably one of the few who doesn't know someone who knows someone or is the cousin of someones uncle...so I'm just making this up going on a gut feeling. I reckon we are saving a bit of money (maybe a bit of the left over Rance $) for a big free agent/trade next year. If Jack, Bachar and/or Cotch retires after 2021 we will be nicely placed to chase someone big...perhaps 2 semi-bigs. Who I have no idea.

Collingwood just freed up $1.5-2M so maybe they may go after the same player(s)?

I think you are right about us, but wrong about Collingwood. The negative impact this will have on their brand both with supporters (who may cut memberships etc) and the rest of the industry is nowhere near worth freeing up space this year to get a FA next year. Tom Philips is a perfect example, he was out of contract at the end of 2021. If this was about freeing up cap space for going after a FA at the end of next year, no way they trade him for a nothing pick. They would push for me. Make no mistake, this was a massive salary dump in order to allow for the big contracts already signed by Grundy, Moore and soon to be De Goey.

Question:
Any chance of putting english and turned onto the rookie list?
I was hearing all year that these 2 were highly rated in the positions they played. I was shocked they were the delistings
