2021 Draft Thread

EZJ won our $20 sweep on the draft.

he pulled off Clarke somehow?

EZJ; hobbs, Gibcus.JVR,johnson,Taylor,Clarke, Sonsie

He went the full Nostradamus in the 2nd round and went at about 80% in real time.

I actually confiscated his phone because I thought he had a feed a few seconds ahead of Kayo, but he just kept hitting the target.
Congratulations to big footy head EZY but still a bit of a cloud over his SEVEN picks.
I came dead last with none out of five,
(Erasmus, Johnson, Alleer, Feju and Knevitt),
but pretty pleased with the selections we actually made.

Where no good when it comes to people rating us.
Nightmare gives a D after building 5 picks under 30 and then i came across this. I replied to this article with '3 picks (nothing under pick 25) and we score 2 multiple premiership players. It shouldve been a AAA+ not the B he gave us.20211127_190625.jpg

The nakas no mark against Reid.
It was a 50. Nakas took the mark and Reid punched the ball away.
*The free kick with 8 seconds to go to half time for a bullshiit block.
The 20 short kicks paid as marks for Sydney.
It was horrifying to watch.
Every time we would counter the pricks would pluck a free kick out.
*That game was pay back from the AFL for Hardwick bagging there lovechild Sydney the year before.
All shockers but the free to Henney was the worst. He thought he’d given the free away

Trading in flankers on shitloads of shekels while pretending they are premium mid fielders is never a good idea. Especially when you're a bog ordinary team in the first place.
A check of the stats says Williams gets more contested ball than Cerra so they still haven't found the inside mid they are after....

As for the thread topic, i'd like to thank all involved in educating us on the draftees, the various views were very informative so well done to all.

TIGERS SCORE A ‘STEAL’

After the departures of David Astbury (retired) and Ryan Garthwaite (delisted), the Tigers were looking for a young key defender to partner Dylan Grimes (30 years old) and Robbie Tarrant (32) in the twilight of their careers.

They ticked the box on Wednesday night by using Pick 9 to snare Josh Gibcus – a freak key defensive talent that had interest from as early as the Giants at Pick 2.

Despite midfielder Ben Hobbs still being on the board, Richmond opted to select Gibcus to bolster its key defensive stocks.

Foxfooty.com.au reported minutes prior to the draft the Giants were trying to find a club to trade with and help them move up the draft order – ideally ahead of the Tigers – to snare Gibcus. They identified Fremantle as a potential suitor, but a deal never came to fruition.

That left the Tigers to pick up Gibcus, who has a highlights reel like Hawthorn champion Peter Knights, according to dual premiership Kangaroo David King.

“He’s diligent enough to start with his opponent. But then he just assesses really quickly where it’s likely to fall,” King told Fox Footy.

“Dropping off his man, assessing the ball in flight really early – that’s AFL level already. That’s the classic intercept mark player that we see in the competition right now.

“I think this guy is a steal at this pick. Richmond have got an absolute ripper. We know they’re looking to rebuild in that back half, there’s no doubt they’ve lost some key position talent – Pick 9 is a steal.”

Doerre for some reason thinks he is smarter than basically every recruiter that is employed in the industry. Unfortunately for him, its pretty clear why they are employed and he isn't.

Has knitmare ever been right ?

He is to the draft what dwayne is to commentary , basically fluff

He's been commenting today on his thread how he's a contrarian. Contrarian's rarely get too much right. Constantly trying to go against the grain to seem relevant which is what he is doing. ESPN probably jump on this and want him to engage further with it as it creates much better clickbait.

He claimed today that being a contrarian means he essentially has much better chance of having a big win. Doesn't comment about the big downside risk he is taking on. Think of it like investing. Should I buy a good company (ASX100) or should I buy a penny stock. Much bigger upside with the penny stock right?/ Contrarian investing has such great upsides right?

Sonsie was pure theft, his ceiling is the old 10 foot high ceilings.
Loving that clubs passed on him for telling all of them to f off,I'm playing for Tigers only.

Couple of things we know, GWS tried to get infront of us for Gibcus by trying to trade with Freo.

The Freo table looked shellshocked when we took Barry Gibcus, they were sure we were going Hobbs and wanted Gibcus. They wanted bookends and it’s a smart play. Everyone looking for Buddy & Rough 2.0.

I think we head faked Freo then and then they tried to extort a massive price for the Johnson pick we wanted. Was this another head fake to get us off the Sonsie, Banks or Clarke scent? Maybe. I can’t see us passing on Johnson twice and then being interested. I think if we had interest in anyone it was Butler.
