The image of my ticket burning is etched into mind as I try to erase the memory of Round 9.
I sensed something was wrong and eery about the night. I wasn’t confident. The big stage was awaiting us. But it was Dreamtime, it was time to go to sleep.
As I closed my eyes and witnessed a disturbing first quarter I thought it could only get better from here, the game would open up and our young mids will give ‘em their money’s worth. Wrong. The second quarter rolled by just the same, if not worse. Maybe I would be proved wrong, maybe Mr Hardwick would change the pace. Maybe he would scream loud and menacingly to his players, spur them to fight for victory on this marvelous occasion. Maybe this is not a dream after all.
With each heart breaking clanger a flicker of light blurred my vision. What was it?
I faded away into a dream sequence...
It was the same round, only 6 years prior. The scores are tied with about three minutes to go, Matthew Richardson nudged Mal Michael out of a standing one-on-one marking contest, using his right hand on Michael's right shoulder blade...
The MCG is the Boiler Room, Essendon is Freddy Krueger, James Hird is the glove and Watson, Stanton, Goddard, Dempsey are the knives.
We won’t be escaping tonight.

Thanks to rokin for a horrific report this week to match a horrific match by the Tigers. Aside from the Blooze, there isn't a team a cherish winning against more than the Bombers. There is something about their fans that just makes you want wipe the cheating smirks off their smug faces. However, winners are grinners and the Bombers handed the Tigers a free footy lesson at Dreamtime.
I am writing this report from SE QLD this morning, harnessing the power of cloud computing and Remote Desktop software to bring you this week's report.
In the voting this week, the defenders were rewarded for their efforts in keeping the Tigers in touch against a rampant Bomber midfield. Chaplin took the honours as his cool head repelled numerous attacks and he was well supported by Alex Rance in his best effort of the year (coincidence that a potential distraction was resolved in the week leading up to the match? Probably). Chris Newman also returned to the side and played a solid role in defence, providing plenty of run.
This Monday's game against the Eagles out west has become important as the Tigers are getting the reputation of having an inability to beat the 'better' sides. This match provides the opportunity to silence some of those critics.
Carn' the Tiges!
