2012 is the year to change 27 years of bad culture

You get a better guide ofan organisation's "Stability" when things are not going the way people expect.

I blame Benny Gale for all this uncalled for 'stability'. It's just not the Richmond way...

Agreed. As someone (Ridley?) said a while ago I think we need to sack Hardwick and then sack his replacement before he starts just to make us feel better.

Maybe we should start up talks again with the idea of Sheedy returning as coach.

As awesome as finals would be.im just keen to ser another 4 or 5 players step up the way rance vickery nahas jack cotch houli and martin have. if dea post grimes conca batchelor griffiths can step up and become the sort of players vickery tance etc have then ill be wrapped. im hoping we get digns of a killer ruckman to. then in 2013 we launch.

Hard work ahead.

No one should be under any illusion. What Dimma and the boys have achieved so far is probably the easiest bit of winning a flag.

It now requires total commitment, total work ethic, and an undeniable desire to succeed.

I completely agree. Countless numbers of coaches have been able to clear out the duds, but only a select few can develop those second tier players into A graders or develop a winning game plan that the entire team can follow and fewer still manage to do both and it's those coaches that win flags.

Dimma is currently in the first category with a good start in the game plan area.

Next year, finals or not, is the year that he must start turning the B graders into A graders.

Keep in mind we had 8 players play every game this year, Cotchin, Deledio, Foley, Houli, Martin, Nahas, Riewoldt and Vickery. Basically our current list of A graders or big improvers, so we weren't exactly unlucky with injuries.

unless you look at our defence and consider thursty and mcguane played a dozen games too many each. astbury and grimes played a dozen to few and moore missed the whole season

but on the plus side moores injury gave batchelor an opportunity

I was thinking of posting something similar to this the other night when all the Freo/St Kilda stuff happened...

Amazing that Richmond for a change is one of the STABLE clubs...

As you said a bunch of clubs have new coaches.. Melb and Bulldogs don't even have coaches at the moment.. St Kilda's just walked out, Freo just threw theirs out. Carlton even though they are a hair away from a grand final appearance are threatening to sack their coach. Malthouse has yet to even say a good word about the guy who's followed him around for the last 2 years and will be taking his place next season...

But past the coaching stuff which is just chaos, you have all these other clubs surrounded in back ally talks about players moving on and others not signing....

As well as having a very stable coaching panel at the moment with barely a mention of anyone, fans or otherwise, wanting him out,,,, we appear to have an entire team of players fully committed to our club... In this age right now, if a player wasn't fully happy where he is, he could put his hand up and would be out pretty damn quick.. But allllll of our good and mid tier guys seem to be showing an unflinching support for what's going on at Tigerland at the moment...

If off field stuff really can have a big impact on field, then i'm am very thankful Richmond is as settled as i've seen it in a long time....!

:clap :clap :clap :clap

Good management.. Good leaders at the top... That's what it takes... sh!t rolls down the hill and you put one bad guy at the top, everything ends up in disarray.. Clearly our top leaders are building an incredibly good culture that people just want to stay apart of, and everyone there has the chance in some way to contribute to Richmond rising to the top again!!!!

Loving it!

Great post mate. For once we haven't been sucked in by other clubs and the coaching merry go round

I'm keeping a lid on next year but my heart is ponding for all I see for 2012 is :cupgold

I think in yr 2012 our goal needs to be to simply improve our interstate record, hopefully the crows win from this yr will be the kick start towards that. Alot of the interstate sides will be down the bottom again next yr and we must win a majority of these interstate trips as well as maintain our home record.

Carlton are a side that seems to have improved its interstate record in the past few years. Off memory they won in Adel, Perth, Syd and GC this yr and that has pushed them closer 2 being a contender. As much as I hate to say it, maybe we can learn something from Carlton ;)

Lots of things need to go right.

- Another "Vickery" has to pop up (Post/Griff???)
- Good run of injuries
- Good start to the season, no long stretch of losses
- Back 6 stability with Grimes, Newman, Rance, Lids and Houli to build around. Moore (hope not) is gone!,,, maybe throw in Batchelor
- Foley to capitalise on his 22 games he played, big 2012, make it impossible for the opposition to mark Cotch, Martin and Foley
- King and Nahas can afford to go backwards
- A ruckman come to Tigerland, a good trade or two, next 3-4 kids come to Tiger land where 1 possibly 2 makes an impact.
- We can manage win one of our “sold off games”
- Find someone who can tag (other than Jackson)
- Talk about someone else who is burning down the house over the off season other than Cotin
- Luck of the Irish, player from left field who come in and can make an impact.
- Lots of off season praying.

then, just maybe we can sneak into the 8,
