Welcome to the Tigers - Daniel Rioli

It’s now Daniel’s turn to help the next gen…he owes us.
”Riewoldt said he and Cotchin were discussing how they could provide second-year player Daniel Rioli with a premiership, thinking it would come after they had finished their careers.”

I dont think some are aware of how great a leadership group the Tigers had, and the amount of quality solid citizens flourished and reinforced the culture under their leadership.

I wonder whether the fact that Daniel's uncle is around is causing a bit of tension due to Daniel being senior in terms of his place at the RFC but Maurice being senior within their family and culture. Family and culture override footy I'm guessing.

No. Just wondering why he might be considering a move because on face value it seems hard to understand.
Could just want to play under Dimma's coaching.
Could want to chase more possible future success, rather than go through a rebuild.
Could be offered better money on a contract to end of career.
Could be jack of *smile* cold Vic winters n Melb congestion.
Could be he wants to be closer to family by being in QLD rather than Vic.
Could simply just want a career n life refresh.
There'd be lots of reasons he or anyone for that matter would consider a move or change in life.

He is a contracted player, 2nd year of a 5 year contract. Where does this rumour come from again? He went to the Gold Coast for a holiday and visited Dimma.
I would be more surprised if he went to the Gold Coast for a holiday and didn’t visit Dimma

Then we’d be reading ‘Shock rift opened up between Hardwick and favourite son’

If he goes to Gold Coast and plays forward I’ll fair dinkum spew up.

Correct in what ya say David, but the point of him being contracted is simply irrelevant. Players and clubs break / change / manipulate contractural arrangements as suit needs all the time.

Who says he's considering a move? Even when Dimma was asked about him, he said he's going to stay at the Tigers. IMO this is a complete non-story fabricated by a meetup between old players / coaches. Are they not allowed to socialise with people who they used to be team mates of anymore?

That's fair. Personally I doubt it has anything to do with family hierarchy as that's never been a problem in the past.

Could be Dimma is in his ear.

Media *smile*. There is an extremely strong bond with the “brothers”. He isn’t going anywhere.

Again there seems little regard here for the fact Dan is contracted.
We badly need his drive out of the backline and should do all we can to encourage him to stay and honour that contract.

If Baker goes, as seems much more likely, maybe Dan becomes Captain.
Can’t see that selection going to a member of the present leadership group,
this having regard to age, fitness and form.

The next in line are NV and Dan.

Dan signed his deal with Dimma as coach. He has every right to take care of his future and if he sees that at Gold Coast then so be it. We would get massive overs in any trade deal. multiple picks and players. I would not limit what we ask for. They have plenty of B & C grade players that may thrive back in Melbourne.

There may or may not be any truth in the story, but of course the media are going to make it one.
Rioli's old coach at the Suns. ✔️
Suns maybe needing experienced players ✔️
Tigers maybe wanting draft picks ✔️
Stories needing to be written ✔️
Premiership player at big club to write about ✔️

The most complicated checklist for the pigeons.

:rotfl2 :rotfl2 :rotfl2Club wants to move a player or a player wants to move to another club, then the paperwork is little more than fancy arse wipe. Deals have been getting done for 150 years n will keep on getting done when someone insists.

I wonder what Adam Trealor would say about that and particularly about his treatment at the hands of Eddie Mcquire.

Probably hated what happened n Grundypants probably hated that it happened to him twice even. But that simply proves my point. The contracts were nothing more than glorified arse wipe when someone decides that a deal needs to be done. Sometimes the clubs move a contracted player on and sometimes a contracted player decides he wants or needs to move.
When push comes to shove and things get a little serious from either side things get done n the " contract " meh.
